Unfortunately, this transaction is going to get fugly. I can feel it.
Luckily I processed the transaction via ebay for the fear of getting boned.

Before we get into details and to hear the other side. Let me post pictures and please let me know if you think this qualifies as a good rear housing.

 

the guy has no clue about the engines. thats why he keeps taking it apart and selling his damaged parts as "usable"

 

I see he's been active, hopefully he comes in to address the situation.

Until that time, his selling privileges are temporarily revoked.

I was in search of a rear FD iron. I'm in the process of a rebuild and the motor is automatic. So I went to source a manual rear iron.
I saw s2kguy17's listing on the forum and was actually familiar with his name and aware he was a member with years. The pictures were small and I asked for additional pictures.

His PM: (Hey not sure how to send pics on pm but if you text me I can send you more if still interested)

slight red flag as he has been on the forum for 6 years and doesn't know how to post a pic in a PM?
He sent the pictures..but the photos got compressed and slightly anti-aliased on my phone.
s2kguy17 "Jonathan Ortiz" wanted $200 for the rear iron $250 shipped. He was slightly in a rush and very responsive and in a hurry. I work with a lot of people like this. so it clouded my judgement and it bit me in the ***.

Saw that he also listed it on ebay - the same rear iron.

"13B REW rear iron plate with out stationary gear. Used but good condition no cracks or surface marks. This is for 3rd gen rx7"

for the same cost.

I texted him.. "buy it on eBay or PayPal you." response "PayPal me"

I asked.. "How much if i PayPal you." He responded "$250"

So my gut told me buy it thru eBay. You know ebay and paypal are gonna tax you. lol

I really tried to inspect the pictures again after reading another members comment that he sells "garbage parts" and noticed the port looked funny. "Hey, was the iron ported." No just polished. he replied

So I just waited for the package to arrive..

 

yeah same with me . he responded quick yeah yeah . send payment thats it boom MIA

and when the apart arrived....





so ya gonna charge me $50 for shipping.. at least have the decency to pack it right.. if your gonna nail me an extra $20 dollars



but guess what...

what a waste of time and yes you are a thief.. because you knew the part was straight up jacked and if i paid you directly via pay-pal.. i would have been boned.

If he hasn't addressed the situation shortly, he will be banned.

 

He logged on yesterday and made no effort to address the situation.

How so? OP had his money refunded. He was smart enough to file a claim through paypal

Buying used internal engine parts from a not-proven-reputable seller is certainly a gamble. I'm at the point where if I don't know you and your reputation I won't pay until the parts arrive and I've been able to personally inspect them---then I'll pay you. If a seller doesn't like that, then no dice.

 

Out 80 bucks for shipping, Sk2guy gets a clean slate. Out of your control, but just saying.
