rotary warehouse - how NOT to build an engine
an interesting side note: the original owner had a bbq/cookout with Scott/RW while getting the engine built. Sounds like a cool place eh?!
They sound like a bunch of *****.
Further more where is the invoice showing that the person you bought it off of even purchased it from us...We stamp all of our engines that we build with a build number and a indetifying marker. You say it is a 3rd gen (ported)..it has been over 2 years since we have done a ported 3rd gen and that one went in my personal rx7 and the one before that went to Europe.. Sounds like someone was trying to pass off one of our motors.
HAHA!!! that's the problem, there was probably tons of alcohol at this BBQ! They were sitin there shootin the ****, then decided to pop a few....later they got a wild hair up their *** and were like, "dude we should build a 5,000 hp engine." Well they were seriously impaired so while "porting" they were swaying from side to side and managed to forget some pieces......four hours later they wake up in a ditch a mile away, walk back to the shop and find a "race" engine. Of course they remember nothing and think it was sent from God and decide to sell it because they have enough......but that's just my theory.

Big update today...
Heard from Scott of RW;
He is going to build a stage4 engine using his porting template(s), dowels & aviation seals. I also asked that he take photos of the build as it'll be a while before I even get to dealing with the engine (3rotor is taking more focus atm).
I'm on the hunt for a core to send RW - Scott is looking at a week turn-around time. We'll get some compression numbers before it leaves the shop and compare when it arrives, etc etc.
I've also asked that RW send the engine dry (just coated with assembly oil/lube, i use 2 stroke oil myself) as it'll sit for a while before getting any attention.
So.. I'm on the hunt for a 13bREW-shorty core to mail off to RW... any leads?

Good to hear that things are working out for you. Glad that the shop is taking responsibility now that it is most definitely one of their engines. I'd think they could trace the stamp number back and figure out who did the work originally - that person should be let go immediately. It's one thing to make a mistake, but to try to hide it is something on a completely different level. Just because you don't think the average joe is going to open their engine up to inpect your work doesn't mean you can let stuff like that go. People are spending hard-earned money for this ****, and to have something come out that is as rough as that motor is - that's completely unacceptable.

Thanks Robert
in the future its not wise to crack open a motor without talking to the builder first after verifying the compression comes out negative. i know my work so during teardown i can tell if someone has been in there dicking with stuff, then it's hard to say what happened in the meantime regardless of if they say they will warranty it or not, most will to save face if it was an honest screwup on their part.

Alright!! Found a core engine.
Due to the conditions here (huge power outage), I've asked Steven to handle the shipping while I tend to our conditions. over 600k (state wide) without power at the moment, so finding WiFi is really tough and on top of that - the WiFi cafes are overly crowded.
Enough of my sob story... I've got a core engine, Steven should get back with me on the shipping end and Scott expects a 1 week turn around time.
Thats the update thus far.

well here it is 01/09/08... no return calls from Rotarywarehouse, no word from the org seller.. nothing
I'm still hanging in there, as we last left things off, RW was in the process of giving me a shipping quote, etc. i've not heard anything from RW in almost 3 weeks.
yes i understand holidays,etc... Thankfully the seller of the core engine has been kind enough to store it until its shipped.
RotaryWarehouse - where ya at

it seemed like RW "was" doing a good thing, but if they told the person they would take care of the engine (be it a free rebuild or some sort of discount) and had him find and buy a core and since have cut off all communication with the person then the good they "were" doing has now become the bad they "are" doing.
I was in sacramento 3 years ago visiting a close friend and we went to a rotary shop just looking around and i belive it was rw. The owner was more of a muscle car guy but had a mechanic that did rotary work. He was showing us a 3rd gen it was blue and stated it was making 600h/p. Not wanting to get anything started we kept or mouths shut when we noticed when they did the underdrive pulleys they had the belt on for forward rotation. They even stated they needed a larger radiator becouse of heat. Im not sure but i belive it is the same place. They did work mostley on sec gens that i remember well and it was a nice bulding. I hope they are willing and able to help you out thats alot of money just to learn a lesson.
some info

this IS not us....I do not work on vehicles then or currently. Plus I really am not into muscle cars.
Jason(hwnd) and I have been in contact....as I told him we were closed over xmas and new years.... am starting to feel like I am on trial here.Regardless the offer I gave him stands. I do not monitor this form on a regular basis so He has my regular email to get a hold of me.

I am glad it was not you and have nothing bad to say about you , as imentioned i wasn't sure and was hoping i was wrong. Its good to see you guys are working this out its always better for both sides. Soo i will just stay out of this, good luck to both of you!!
- ridiculous
That is just nuts!
Invoices, receipts.... I would assume this purchase was substantial. Who wouldn't recieve a receipt/invoice?
I noticed the retreat, you said it was not even your engine, then its pretty much, even if it is, the invoice means nothing, the law is not on your side.
Be classy, replace the work with quality work. Or reimburse something back to the person. You dodge, duck and hide from questions, and responsibility.
Step up, take responsibility, stop being a liar and a coward.

Wasn't trying to go back on what I said Just that I was trying to interject some frustration on my part in that times I had tried to go after people who had wronged me from afar and got really nowhere(maybe I didnt have the knowledge you do of the law and what it is capable of) so I just found it a waste to purssue and just chalk it up to a bad deal and just moved on. I don't think your words are threatning but it does have overtones of it. I think it is great of you to look after your fellow rotory brothers. I Know it is not our motor and never have changed my view...I can clearly tell it isnt....based on the info I provided in my earlier posts...So being lambasted by you doesn't feel so hot and last thing I want to do is start a pissing match with you cause from what I can see I would lose for sure. I appreciate that it seems your are still impartial to what is going on. You have the support of your whole community...I just recently got on here to refute claims of the afformentioned engine was ours...and it isn't. So being the relative unknow I don't have an iota of a chance to defend my self against your barrage. My only defense are facts. Not a rotary warehouse motor, Not a stage 4 motor as claimed(no dowell pinning machining based on picture) The porting work does not match our templates, No invoice showing purchased from us. No mention yet from original poster if there was a build number and our logo stamped on the engine. My knowledge of the few stage 4 3rd gen motors not being sold here in the US and the guy who has falsely claimed of purchasing the motor lives here in California in the San Jaquin area (only like 1 hr away from us) ..(the original poster had given his number in a previous post and it is a 209 area code number) I don't know what else there can be done to prove my point without more of the facts. I am not one to backpeddle, Sorry if it sounded like it. I think I was letting a past experience of my own unlrelated to the subject to bleed into my post. Let me know what more I can do?
