Ron Adams, Deadbeat

This actually occurred last year. I was looking through my accounting software and saw this individual still owed me money, so I had to vent. Ron Adams brought me his RX-8 for some service. His son had installed a cheap generic midpipe which was too loud for his tastes and tripped the check engine light. I was asked to re-install the stock catalytic converted and remove the midpipe. I gave an initial quote of one hour loabor providing that none of the hardware was stripped or seized. I suggested the customer purchase new hardware from Mazda prior, and he declined saying that the car had low miles and the hardware would be fine. The car arrived and I replaced the midpipe with the stock calatytic converted. The hardware was in poor shape from rust and re-use. Additionally, whoever installed the midpipe mangled the hardware. I spent nearly an hour extra time heating the hardware with a torch to remove it and then re-tapping the bolts. I also cleared his check engine light at no charge. The customer agreed to the hour additional labor, but said he did not have any more cash on hand. A check for the remaining balance of $50 was promised in the mail. After several weeks and followups, no check arrived. Its sad that an individual can give their word and then stiff you for $50 lousy dollars. I suggest that nobody should waste their time with this individual. Ron Adams lives in Wyckof NJ and owns a blue RX-8.

I think I was there for this. Didn't his son have put on an "Rx-9" badge on his 8 at the time? Sorry you got screwed over . It really doesn't matter how much it is, its still disrespectful.

Yeah, those cat bolts almost always strip unless you take them off with a power tool after soaking them in lubricant. I've worked on a ton of 8's, so I feel y aman. Good luck, and i hope you see your cash.
