A little over a week ago, I got a PM regarding the FS thread I have for my convertible (https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-rx-7-1986-1992-vehicles-108/88-rx-7-convertible-896094/) from NoPistons4Chris - it read like this:
"I'll be in vegas next friday so I can check it out. Also, I'm looking to offer 2500 cash since no one else is offering right now =). Either way I'd like to check it out. Thanks"
Now I know this isn't a commitment to buy my car, but it appeared he was fairly serious. I kept in contact with him throughout the week, to see if he was still interested. He told me that he would come check my car out Friday night, or Saturday morning. So Friday afternoon, I send him a text, and try to call, to see if he was coming out on Friday. So I wait at my house all Friday night in case he might show up, and get a text after 8pm, asking to look at it tomorrow. No problem.
Now remember he told me he would check it out Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. So I'm waiting at my house Saturday morning, into the afternoon, and get a few PM's on the board from him that say:
" What's up nick, sorry man just woke up. I don't have my phone with me at the moment, Left it at my cousin's hotel at flamingo. I'm looking to meet up after 4. How far are you off the strip? I'm staying at luxor."
And 5 minutes later:
"BTW I'll have my phone in an hour. so please let me know. thanks for all the patience."
That was about 1:15pm. I get a call at about 5:15pm from someone with his phone (assuming it was his cousin), I guess they thought the local number may have been him. The guy said he would let Chris know I'm trying to get in touch with him. I waited another 3 hours, tried to call again. Some girl answered and said he was getting ready, asked to take a message. I asked her to ask him if he was going to come look at my car, and he told her to tell me that he "would call me back".
Well here I am, Sunday afternoon, still havent received a call from him, or a text, or anything. I understand he never committed to buying my car or anything, but he definitely led me to believe that he was going to come look at it. I have some friends in town for the weekend as well (one of which is in the Army and will be deployed in a month) that I postponed meeting because I expected him to come by.
So I guess my point is - if you get a message from him to make a deal or transaction, don't put aside any of your time expecting him to actually come through when he says he will.
Maybe it's just Vegas? I dunno.
