JPMatta16 - Sloppy packaging - broken part

In all the time I have bought and sold parts on the forums, I feel most members have been up front and careful with shipping. In this case, JPmatta16 barely did the minimum when shipping parts out to me.

Relevant thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...parts-1114646/

He was selling a cluster hood and face for $200 and a ac panel for $120. While having a few broken tabs, all pieces in sale thread pics showed intact parts. This is not how I received one of the parts and it was due to negligence on the part of the seller. I communicated with him on May 21 and asked for a shipping quote. He replied that shipping for the 3 parts would be "roughly $30" and he would pay for any difference. He also asked if he could send out the parts on the 26th as he was travelling. I said no problem and waited for him to send me a pm when he was ready to receive payment when he was ready to ship. As such, he didn't ship until the 31st, but I had no problem with that. I was patient.

I'm not willing to be patient when I receive the parts and the box contains barely any protective insulation like bubble wrap. He didn't even bother to wrap the gauge hood or face with bubble wrap and instead just placed them loosely in the large box with 2 flimsy thin sheets of foam over the pieces, a flattened box under, and a small box containing the ac panel. The end result was the cluster hood predictably was broken into two pieces since it was just free to rattle around in the box with the gauge face. The box was worn and had a gash in it.

Why wouldn't you wrap the pieces? Not to mention, this box wasn't shipped priority air or anything, it shipped ground and was handled in multiple stops so he should have wrapped it better accordingly.

I'll be opening a Paypal dispute shortly. Practice common sense, if you're going to bother selling parts to members, practice common courtesy and wrap each part carefully or don't bother selling.

Pics of damaged cluster hood, sloppy scant packaging to follow.

I told you I was out of the country, so I told my wife to package it out for me so when I got back I could just go and ship it out. Unfortunately she did and didn't pack it as I had explained to her, maybe due to the fact that we have 5 kids and maybe she got caught up. Not your problem, but wanted to give you an explanation. Common sense also dictates that a msg to the seller to give him a chance to make it right would have been the right thing to do. I have sold many things here and have never had an issue with anyone, and have also purchase many things that came broken and a simple msg has fixed it.
I never once told you it was going to be sent priority as the price for shipping would have been over $100 dollars with the size of the box. Obviously I wasn't going to pay that for shipping. Even if it's ground the box shouldn't have been that beat up.
Again, a simple msg telling me that the parts were broken would have fixed it, got a little ahead of yourself there.
If you haven't noticed, most of the threads on here are made after communication was attempted. You never did that. If you are unhappy about something, have some common sense and contact the seller.

I understand the pressures of family life, believe me. And there was really no assumption that I expected you to ship anything priority, only the expectation that by whatever method you chose with the shipping price you communicated, that you packaged the stuff appropriately to avoid damage. And you may be right that I should have PMed you first before going here, but I felt understandably frustrated and in disbelief when I got the box. From our PMs I never gave the sense of urgency and would've been fine with you shipping even later than Friday the 26th if it meant you personally took care of stuff.

In the end, we basically want a smooth transaction. I'll be taking this to PM to resolve this with you, hopefully in a way that works out for both of us.

An open line of communication was available to both parties during this transaction. Accidents happen and wives don't necessarily understand the value of proper packaging. It seems Jpmatta16 is more than willing to set things right. I hope you both find resolution.

I've been occupied with work where I can't always respond real time. I've responded to your PMs. Thanks.

Well he never contacted me at all. Item arrived there broken and he just filled a claim and posted in here, which is completely unfair. I'm not a bad seller, I have sold multiple items here and never had an issue with anything. Buyer never contacted once at all before filling a claim and posting this here.

Mods, please delete thread, this issue has been resolved.

Juan is correct in that a better way to have handled this from my end would have been to contact him directly prior to posting in here. I may have let my frustration get the better of me in the spur of the moment. Juan did make things right in the end and I have to give him credit for that.

Glad to see the issue was resolved in the end. We make it a practice to not delete the feedback threads--- the members can read from start to finish and see that there was a happy ending

Glad to see things worked out. I have done business with Juan in the past and had zero issues. Good communication and consistent follow-through.
