Japanese Engines INC Bad Company!!!

I recently purchased a 13B-re motor from Japanese Engines inc. Shipping was quick and all but they sent me a bad motor. I asked before purchasing if the motor was compression tested and they assured me the motor was good on compresion. When I finally get the motor i begin to tear down the block and i was looseing the turbo i se some water coming out between the turbo and the manifold i said well it might be a bit of coolant that leaked down when i removed the coolant lines to the turbo so i continued and when i finally got the turbo off the manifold and rotor housings where full of rusty water. i got the engine to spin and it would spew rust water out of the exhaust ports. I sent the motor back and am waiting for the refund.

Buyer Beware

I'm not surprised. In most cases, jdm motors=someone else's junk.

Yeah, not worth it. Just get your blown motor to someone who can rebuild it correctly. There's not enough of a difference between the JDM and USDM 13b's to justify getting one. As stated above, they probably just hunt through junk yards and sell to people who are crazed with the "JDM" thing.

I always just inspect them personally....had a lot of good luck with RE's and since you can't get them here......where else are you supposed to go? But I only buy from local importers which means I CAN check them out with my own eyes.

But buying a used engine, sight un-seen, through the internet, is a recipe for a let-down.
