the hood does match my car. my car is not cym. everysingle side of the hood about 3/4 of the entire side surface of the hood is fucked. both corners of the hood has to be completely rebuilt, 3-4 sections have to be cut out and completely redone. then the hood has to be repainted. as always when you buy something used, it is never "perfect". but by no means is this hood something i would even sell to someone for 100 bucks in the condition its in.

so having to redo a majority of the hood with fiber glass, prepping it, and painting it. i think im being more then fair. i highly doubt he would give me the full 600 back and then pay to have it shipped back to him although i would be morethen happy to do it if wanted to. if anything i think he is getting off easy. all this could have been easily avoided spending an extra 5 or 10 dollars and shipping it properly and insuring it. atleast if it was packaged properly, it would not be his problem, but the shippers.

Thats over 300$ if you take it to a shop easy.....probably cost under 50$ to do it yourself, but he shouldnt have to do it himself, he didnt get the product he ordered so it should be done by a professional and not waste his time doing it.

the fiber glass and resin would be around $50+ alone. to be completely honest, when it comes to welding or wrenching on a car...im all about it. when it comes to body work, i dont have the patience or attention to detail that is required to do it. plus ive never done it before and dont plan to start now. so it will be professionally done.

Nah, it wouldnt need to much, I did a fiberglass job a few months back and spend like 25$ on fiberglass, bondo and resin and some extra hardener.

Haha you would need no where near a gallon for this.

The matter at hand is that it isn't his job to do in the first place. He didn't buy a hood in bad condition, he ordered a hood in good condition.

I'd open a dispute for my full amount back and if the seller wants the hood back he can pay for shipment back or pick it up.

Hope you paid with your Credit Card because they will give you your money back no problem with a picture like that.

I think i got that beat. I bought a alum hood and the guy put it in a furniture box with some leopard fabric thrown in the box. It got to me with the end popped through and totally bent over. Took me 6 months to get my money back.

Onto the fiberglass- it can be repaired, but if you are the kind of person who likes thier car a caertain way you want things with little to no body work. A glass hood subjected to engine heat and the the sun will surely shrink in and all the areas you cut and reglass will most likely shrink in and be visible. I own a fiberglass repair shop where i have worked since 1995 and we have been in business since 1964 and i would not want that hood unless i had a track car and got the hood cheap to offset the repairs.

You should have just picked it up anyway. PA to MD and how damaged it got for probably no more than 4 or 5 hours of driving makes me LOL.

I told you that you'd get it worked out.......

That you seem to keep making this sound like it is the buyers fault in any way, shape or form is ridiculous and makes me LOL.

I remember when I was younger, one of my brothers used my parent's house as a store-all for his auto parts and junk. One night, my mom was walking down the back of the driveway looking for her cat. She stepped on an old radiator and wrenched her ankle. It was dark, she couldnt see it. My brother actually had the absolute lack of common sense and decency to say "well, you should have been watching where you were going". Nevermind the fact that he left his crap all over the place.

My point?? Simple--shut the hell up already with these excuses defending a seller that clearly didnt live up to his end of the deal. We do not make excuses around here for people that cannot handle their responsibilities. This needs to be the last time you do it on this forum.

OP was "made whole" and then requested the thread be closed, which is where it should have all ended. No one should have been replying in this thread after that point. Thread has been cleaned up.

I don't know how many times rx7roller02 and I have told members to not reply in these kinds of threads unless you're one of the parties involved or an employee of one of the parties involved empowered to speak for their boss or partner....all it's going to result in is pain and frustration, especially when "friends" or those "in-the-know" stick their noses in. I once got banned from the GG/BG boards myself for such boorish behavior way in the distant past and had to beg to get back in.

..and I did get back in by promising to behave and I've never been a problem in that manner since. I now offer clemency in the same vein.

Look, there's plenty of guilt to go around this time, so it's "bygones" for everyone now, ok? No more replies on this unfortunate series of events and Lord help anyone who tries to start a different thread somewhere else on this matter - keep it all to the PM's now. Guy's gone for 2 months and............
