Thumbs down Driving Force In Jacksonville Florida

I highly recommed you avoid this shop at all costs. I gave them a lot of parts to install and they only put in about half of them, the rest thay said they installed but upon inspection it was determined that they did not. What they did install was done incorrectly and it took them about 3 months to do that much when I was told one month for entire job. If you count the time when I took it back for them to fix what they screwed up the first time and replace what they "lost", make it 8 months. They never replaced everything they "lost" so I was forced to sue them. This was a year ago but the same guys run it and work there now as then so I don't think anything has changed. You can read more about them here..

^Take it from me, NEVER have your RX7 worked on by anyone in Jax! Send it out to those who know rotories. I wish this wasn't the case here, but it's true. Also, Tracy Green from TGFab is a nice guy, but simply doesn't know rotaries. My first aftermarket performance upgrading was with Tracey and his partner while they were SpeedCraft. Cost me about $5,000 to fix what they had *ucked up.

^His bug is cool and I like Tracy, just would nver take my FD to him. Got screwed over pretty bad back when he was at SpeedCraft. Of course his partner landed in jail (for unrelated reasons) so it could always be worse.

I gave up on Jax rotary mechanics many years ago and haven't looked back since. Wish there was a good shop here though.

Wow, I should check the club more often. No, I built a turbo V8 FD so that I could have the fastest car possible. It was fine as I previously had it with the ported rotary and big single making >400hp. I know 3rd gen RX7s down to the last nut, bolt, and screw. We simply choose not to work on most of them because many have been hacked and poorly modded to the point of being a liability. We don't work on air cooled VWs either except in special circumstances.

There is no point in addressing individual bashing, but if someone wants to see what kind of work we do, I suggest doing so first hand.

2nd the avoid Driving Force comment. When the old shop off Phillips closed and the Son skipped town he was holding a set of twin turbos for me. When I contacted his Father, who owned both shops, he refused to give me the turbos. They were gone and he was dealing with a lot of stuff being missing, etc. Can't really blame him, it was a real mess when his Son skipped but I do feel he should have made some effort to make things right.
