There are several people in the forums that have had bad experiences with ChitownR1. Now, it apears that ChitownR1 has changed his user name to Midwestbest.net. I did a search on Midwestbest.net in the good-guy / bad-guy forum and came up empty (the engine must not catch his username in the body of the bad-guy feedback posted for ChitownR1). Consequently, I felt it important to post with a new title... Do a search on ChitownR1 to see how he's screwed numerous others off.

Here's my story... (all can be verified through e-mails and PMs)...

We agree to a trade - My EVO-R lights ($475) for some parts (Spoiler $150, Gauge Cover & Hood $75, and FG Feed Side Skirts $250). He asks that I send my lights the next day with a tracking number. He didn’t have the side skirts but was going to order them for me at his discounted dealer rate, so he wanted proof that I actually sent the lights. Real nice... a scammer trying not to get scammed.

Anyway, I hesitate, but not having seen anything about midwestbest.net on the forums, I send my lights the next day. He gets them 3 days later.

Two weeks pass… I receive nothing, I hear nothing… I start searching the forums and come across the experiences that people are having with ChitownR1 (aka Midwestbest.net; aka Chris Hill).

I e-mail him and let him know what I know about him. He gives me a line that he was trying to improve his rep on the forums due to the irresponsibility of his 'people' - essentially saying that all the negative press about him in the forums is due to his people not following through. He guaranteed me that this transaction would be smooth because HE, not his people, would be doing everything. What a load of crap!

Eventually, I get him to send me the spoiler - or so I thought. He gave me a tracking number, but the tracking number turns out to be completely made up. Another week passes and I finally get him on the phone again. He says he’ll ship the spoiler out tomorrow. I say, “Wait, so you admit you haven’t sent it?... So where did the tracking number come from?” His response? “My ‘people’ told me they sent it out and gave me that tracking number” WTF!!!? Who are these ‘people’ anyway? And why are you using them after you said you wouldn’t?

Another week passes and he agrees to refund me $150 via paypal for the spoiler since he wasn’t going to send it. I got the money that day (thank god).

As of today, I’m still waiting on the side skirts and gauge cover and hood. He’s been telling me for two weeks that he sent the side skirts. But today I got a message hinting at the fact that they haven’t been sent yet. Chris is a liar (period).

Oh, he did try to send me a gauge cover. But it turns out that his ‘people’ sent me the wrong part – a carbon fiber covered gauge cover. I wanted a black one, not carbon fiber (well documented in our conversations). I tell him about the mistake and he says his ‘people’ got it mixed up and that the carbon fiber cover was supposed to go to someone else.

At this point, I tell him that I’ve had enough and to just paypal me the remaining balance for the lights - $325. I told him I would send the carbon fiber gauge cover back the next day and that he’d have it within 3 days.

Now he’s come back to me saying “Why would I send you $325 on your word that you’ll send me the carbon fiber gauge cover back?” WHY? I’ll tell you why… I stick to my word, I always have. That’s why I’m in this ridiculous situation with you now. Plus, I don’t have a need for it. My car has black plastic. It would look stupid!!! Is that enough reasons?

Bottom line is that over a month has past and all I have to show for sending him my brand new EVO-R lights is $150. He still owes me $325 - which I'll be glad to take in cash or in parts (side skirts and gauge cover).

Hopefully, this deal comes to an agreeable solution. For now, I felt it important to warn others about the way this guy does business. He clearly tires to buy time with people by lying to them.

Frankly, I'm not sure how someone like this is allowed to do business on the site. Isn't there some way to prevent it? Or is that the purpose of the "Good guy, Bad Guy" forum. Of course, all he has to do is change his user-name again. Uhhg.

Chris is a local to me...kinda sucks, but anyways you prolly wont see any more of your money because he is a complete douche bag. His chitownr1 name is still being used on this forum but he nevers post or anything. I wish you luck in this situation cause your going to need it. Hopefully all the rotary guys can meet him at a meet this summer cause it would be an interesting convo, but he will be too scared to come out.

Man, that's a sad story. Seems like you did everything right...sucks that this ******* keeps taking people's stuff/money. Hope he gets what he deserves soon...before he can scam someone else.

Unlike some others on this forum, he finally paid me back... it took nearly 8 months.

I attribute his payback due to the fact that several of us who he was scamming got together and contacted a local detective...
