Beware of John Hill, extremely difficult customer
It is unfortunate that I post this up but want to spare any one else the experience of dealing with John Hill (rxtreme7).
I have been Mr. Hill's engine builder, tuner, and general RX-7 mechanic for the past 3 years. I built, ported, and tuned the engines in his '93 Touring and '93 R1, and was halfway through the build on a widebody FC convertible we were setting up when I reached a point to where I could not accommodate his extreme demands and had to abandon the build. I feel badly that I can no longer work with Mr. Hill on his builds but it is of no fault but his own.
I work as a network engineer 8-5 M-F, and work on car projects when I can during my free time. Mr. Hill demands that I work solely on his car, and only at his house under his supervision. Unfortunately my family life, other car projects, and my needs for my own personal time have gotten in the way of builds for him and I have had to take the brunt of his frustrations about this. There have been deadlines that have been missed during these projects, but they have been engine builds along with Haltech installs & tunes, not small projects at all. And he has understood every time that this is not my primary business but he prefers to belittle and harass if things aren't done according to his unrealistic time schedule.
I have also sat silent while he has talked badly about good members of this community. Makito of Shine Auto has done the bodywork on Mr. Hill's widebody convertible and Mr. Hill made it a point to harass and visit Makito once a week to badger him on his project until its completion and continues to bad mouth Makito to anyone within ear shot that's willing to listen. He has also contracted work with Justin Pawlak and talked extremely poorly about him over a rollbar that Justin could not redo enough times to make Mr. Hill happy and Justin has gotten the same unfair treatment as Makito in that Mr. Hill talks nothing but trash about him. In both cases I cringe when he would talk negatively about these people as I know them to be pleasant to work with and they do awesome work in their respective fields. Anyone who has experienced a complex build or bodywork project knows that it is difficult to place a time constraint on such a project, even at a dedicated shop doing the work, however this is lost on Mr. Hill.
As I have seen with my experience, and other shop's experiences with Mr. Hill, this is the norm, and any shop or privateer who works with him will get the same. Tread carefully when working with him.
Thanks for reading.

Unreasonable isn't quite a strong enough word.
If I hadn't experienced the bad mouthing and drama Mr. Hill has spewed forth about good members of this community, I would have just written it off as a personality conflict and left it at that. But this man has a bad habit of chewing up good people he comes across and doing everything in his power to make them look bad when they don't live up to his unrealistic expectations. I'm sure Mr. Hill will have nothing but bad things to say about me, when over a week ago it would have been the opposite, simply because I refuse to accommodate his demands any longer.
