Warning to thoose willing to read (European/ES Motorsports).

Back in November of last year I purchased my first RX-7. I bought it at a place down in Greensboro, North Carolina. At the time the guy called his place European Motorsports. He now calls it ES MOTORSPORTS. I didnt know all that much about the Rx-7 at the time, just that my buddy had one and it was totally amazing and completely blew my mind. So when i decided that it was the car for me ignoring what most people said about it being a handful and i began my search. I landed 200 miles south west of Norfolk, Va in Greensboro where i got the car for $13,000. At the time it was one of only 6 cars within 300 miles that i could afford plus it seemed like a pretty good deal. The car was all original, the interior just needed a new piece of trim on the dash you know the 3 piece one that cracks on all rx7's. The engine purred like a kitten and all seemed well. Plus, the car came with a 3 year 36K mile extended warranty. Sounds like a damn good deal to me so i jumped on it. Well since then i have had nothing but problems. Less than 2 months and 500 miles later everything started to go wrong I now need all new Vacuum lines, brake pads, turbos started to smoke, car leaks oil, compression is bad, clutch is ****, seats where covered with some kind of leather patching crap so they looked brand new when i bought it well now the passenger seat is torn to ****, and the drivers seat looks pretty worn. Less than 4 months after I got the car, and right before i left for deployment the paint started to fade..... THE PAINT! The clear coat looks 15 years old.... I Think he gets someone to do a quick fixer upper on these cars and make them temporarily good to go and sells them for profit. This car was beautiful when i got it. Its sad that people do this stuff, its also partly my fault for not researching the rx7 and learning all the weak points i guess with the warranty i thought i would be good to go. But guess what! The warranty company doesn't even support its warranty... I took it into a Mazda dealership to get the Tranny and that Rear main seal looked at and they contacted the warranty company and they wouldn't cover more than 3K worth of parts and labor.... Pretty much this guy is running a **** poor business down there in Greensboro and is taking advantage of people. He deals RX7's, beamers, nsx's, vipers, supras and other high end cars. Basically If you are interested in one of his deals get the car checked out through and through very hardcore inspections. He might not be selling all junk but i tell you what mine wasnt worth but maybe 9K now that i know what I know. Since stuff started to go down hill I have replaced all the plastics on the dash including the AC panel, Hood, Shifter console, Shift **** and the Boot around it. The cars coming together nicely but i will need to rebuild the engine, tranny, and replace the turbos to get it in what i would call GOOD shape. So thats just my story and i hope it helps someone out with either deciding on buying a rx7 and researching properly or buying from that slimy bastard in Greensboro, NC. Thanks for your time. I feel better, wheres my beer.

I had a similar situation, in that I purchased my car from a dealer in Texas. I had a club member go for a boot in the car, check it out for engine problems, as I knew mine was going to be borderline for mileage for a rebuild. I got the green light and had it shipped up to Canada, only to have it barf coolant on my driveway after the first boot around the block.

At least mine was mint in terms of the chassis. I didn't really have any paint or interior issues, but I can certainly identify with the feeling of not getting what you thought you paid for. Engine was in need of a total rebuild. I expected to have to do it within a year or so, but not that soon! I called the dealer back, and he basically said 'f*** you, you bought it. I am no longer responsible.' I would have had to sue from across the border. You can guess how well that would have gone.

The only thing you can do at this point is decide whether it's worth it to you to keep and put money into to have the way you want it, or if the experience has been soured too badly. I just looked at it as an opportunity to do the car right, just the way i wanted. I had figured on a rebuild within a year or so, so it just meant my budget and timetable was moved up a bit. It still pisses me off, since the problems were well hidden. My wife will never let me live it down though.

Sorry to hear about your situation, i dont really have any means to be able to fight my situation especially since i thought it was in good shape and a good deal in the beginning.... I understand about your wife my best friend up here, his car has been down for 4 years and his wife stays pissed that his sits in the garage and gets Royal treatment while her Acura sits in the Driveway and gets weathered all the time lol....
