Dropped car at Tripoint today and will keep thread updated. They were helpful and willing to resolve issues.

UPDATE: I got my car today from Tripoint and drove it home without incidents. I took my car in as they said they would take it to repair the issues. Mark was very helpful and wanted to make sure everything went well and that the car was to my liking. Cody went through the car and fixed the wiring issues, re-mapped the AEM, switched the GM two bar with an AEM two-bar, refilled the rear end to quiet the noise. the car runs well and pulls with power. I am glad to have my car back and happy that they went the extra mile to make me whole. Cody does great work and will tune my 3rd Gen when it gets completed. I wanted to let everyone know that they stood by their word to make it right and did so.

We addressed a lot of issues. Wether we had anything to do with them or not. There were a couple of failed sensors causing his driveability concern. I retuned the car to run alphaN with boost comp. It made 338hp @7250, 270tq @6000 has 260 ft/lbs tq from 4500-6800rpm. All at 13psi on a mild street port. Dynapak 4000. Last time he drove it home he used over a tank of gas this time he noted he still had a 1/4 tank left. we are glad that the op is satisfied with his car and we look forward to working on his cars in the future.

I just saw this thread and wanted to comment.

It does not surprise me that TriPoint Engineering handled the situation properly. They made the deal right, dispite some ruffled feathers from the OP, and I would guess some lost profits. This is not always the case with repair shops or companies.

I took my FC there over 15 years ago for some electrical issues, they quickly diagnosed the problem, intalled the new parts and had my car back to me quickly and more cost effectively then anticipated.

Given TriPoints reputation across the motorsports community from Autox on up, I felt confident to take my FC back there for more extensive work.

Motor build, porting, 3mm apex seals, custom exhaust, removal of factory harness replaced with the first FC MoTeC system they installed. They brought in a MoTeC engineer to help and assist with installation and tuning.

Mark at TriPoint and I emailed back and fourth prior to the build with expectations, costs and timelines. My expectations were met and in some cases exceeded when Mark gave me advice to change some of the original plans. The budget was kept and the only set back was the finish date, however, I was willing to be patient for the end result of a very professional job well done.

This reply is not to attack the OP, it sucks when you don't have our expectations met, and it is well worth giving TriPoint the credit due for taking care of the customer like they have for many years.

I'm stripping my red convertible down and moving all the parts to a 90 convertible. I've discovered more than I wanted about the work done to my car. I'm taking my time and doing it myself this time. Just because its a shop doesn't mean they are honest or knowledgeable.

These guys are at Buttonwillow raceway. They work on nothing but RX-7s, are like a big family, and absolutely saved my *** one day at the track.

Really? Why do you still call us asking for us to work on your car when we do such bad work?

Wrong answer in front of your single biggest customer base. 14k later, it didn't run right, and he's the bad guy for bringing it up.
It seems like he's lucky that he started this thread and got someone's attention.

Have you payed attention to the previous comments? We fixed all of his issues that he previously had and he was really happy with the result.

He wants to switch all of his parts over to another car and was constantly in contact with us about what needed to happen, what work he was going to be able to do himself and what work we were going to need to do. The last I heard from him he was planning on bringing the car down for us to do some work on it. Mind it these conversations are through txt message, phone calls well after shop hours on personal phones and all of his questions were answered. I would call that really good customer support. Now as soon as he runs into some type of problem which we don't even know what it is he is here on the forums trashing us again.

He really has his priorities backwards.

Yes, but I also paid attention to the whole thread. That's cool that you guys worked it out and got his issues dealt with, but..I dunno, for this thread to even pop up at all isn't the greatest sign. If everyone is happy now, what was with your last comment? He handed you 14 thousand dollars and you're heckling him? For any reason?
I'm from California, have been driving Mazdas since the '90's, and have never heard ANYthing bad about Tripoint. I even have one of your license plate holders on my MSP.

This thread surprised me, and your ending comment surprised me even more.

Usually when you work with a shop and you have issues the first thing you should do is talk to the shop. Even after all of the continued support the first thing the OP does is come one here. He didnt even have the decency to call me personally and address his concerns. It boggles my mind that this is how some people want to do business.

When our customers have issues we address them. If they run to the internet and stab us in the back what are we supposed to do?

Natey, You are really quick to side with the OP and we don't even know what his issue is.

Whoa everyone! ! I didn't come on here to bash anything or anyone I was making a general statement about shops. But I will address one comment. I call because of tuning not for work. I wouldn't take my car there again and I callfor Cody and not the shop. There are other tuners like RRR but ddon't get it twisted. The last time I took my car for a tune I ended up with a busted motor and turbos that were destroyed. That's a new story in itself. Palmtree too control of the issue and rebuilt it for free despite it not being their fault. I don't give a rats *** about what tgeyve done for others. They were trying to milk me for more money even when I took my completed FD there for a tune. Lets not start with the crap because I have witnesses to this activity and shakedown.

As stated, I only wanted to say that in general that just because its a shop doesn't mean it's good and that's all. No shop in particular.

Then why even talk about it in this thread? You are damaging everyone that is getting involved in this.

original car. I haven't driven the thing and when I open my hood it looks like some shade tree guy was under my hood. I'm miffed at that fact and that its my car. Not someone else's, mine and if I wanted to drive it I couldn't. It's a reminder of my experience every time I look at it. So changing it will help me forget. Putting it together myself will assure that it's done correctly. I could be a total fool and slam TP but it doesn't get my car any better. So I think I can post a thought without getting flack. My pockets are lighter and as I complete my car ill feel better.

The stuff installed in your cars was meant to be installed IN YOUR CAR. It was a custom one off harness that integrated into your car specifically. Because it does not come out and drop right into another car does not mean it is the shops fault. I even told you that things will not be 100% plug n play when we had talked over the phone. I don't know why you are surprised by this. I even told you this was part of the work that will need to be completed when you bring the car down.

You need to get your priorities straight.

Let this be the last post from either side. We aren't just talking about one vehicle I'm miffed about. You know this as well as all other parties that when I say my pockets are light, I mean two vehicles. So let it end on this note because even though you work there, you're cool with me.

I didn't refer to the harness. The wiring I'm talking about is the **** ball under the dash. I have pictures of it if you want to continue.
