He asked for photos and video which I drove to the CSR on my anniversary and took over 20 and video.he asked for a picture of my drivers license which I did and asked for a copy of the little which I did. Says we are good and its a deal then backs out because there is no vehicle buyer protection and he is afraid and that its nuts to pay for a CSR cross country. I had told my way it wss sold and told her on our anniversary that we were going to Ireland. I then list it on rbau, he bids again and tries to bully me into a lower price. Guy is a scumbag. Don't deal with him.

after I had learned there was no purchase protection through PayPal alone, that big of purchase was too risky in my eyes across the nation. I then found out eBay protects your purchase of vehicles with their buy back guarantee and decided to BID on your auction style of sale. Tried apologizing for wasting your time, as I am not one to flake typically. When I Bidded on your eBay ad, and won, I had cash ready to send you but you delayed for 10 hours and strung me along, reposted your ad, and tried waiting for a better offer after you had accepted mine. Regardless, seems odd to react the way you have because someone backed out of a deal.

there's virtually no such thing as buyer protection on large purchases like automobiles, i figure anyone with half a brain knew that. you either go by the pics and trust the seller or you visually inspect what you are buying in person before shelling out any money. there is always a gamble. it costs a lot of money to ship a car, no insurance or protection policy is going to hang themself up for everyone else's whims.

so yeah, you should be sorry for wasting his time.

ebay charges fees for completed listings(completed means you click that you agree to buy, even if you never even send a dime), fees that you have to get back(or rather try to get them to cancel out before they bill you at the end of your billing period, monthly). so if there was a listing you bought through ebay then yes, it is a major headache and not even always a guarantee that ebay wont just hang you out to dry and try to yank that money from you anyways(and i mean seller here, not you the buyer, so yes i get quite pissy people people purchase something and fail to pay).

this is a good reason why it's a good idea to place a non refundable deposit requirement on sales, to keep the tire kickers to a minimum. then if the buyer backs out, your time and effort is covered, as well as any potential monetary investments on the behalf of a failed sale. buyers also tend to forget that sellers sometimes invest in something once they think they have sold it, like purchasing fuel and batteries, etc.

Used Cars are sold every day..and they are AS IS..Unless the seller adds a Warrantee in writing usually in the Bill of sale.
If you are looking to Ebay to protect you 100 % for a Bad purchase then that just isn't gonna happen.
They would be refunding money left and right to guys that got a car with a bad muffler,holes in the body and worn out parts.
AS IS is AS IS..and Caveat Emptor means Buyer Beware..That means YOU personally or with a reputable mechanic,inspect the car and YOU cover your own *** or else you bear the burden if it goes sideways.
If the car is half way across the country and the buyer has to pay to ship or go there to inspect it or get it then that is the buyers problem..not the seller's.
All the seller is doing is..well,selling a car..he doesn't have to bring it to your door step so you can look at it.
And if you don't want to go that far to grab a car then you should think about buying locally or within your area.

Sorry things didn't work out for you guys but hey,that's life..and sometimes it just sucks.

 

I have sold and bought parts from gabe Scanlon and all of which have been good transaction's and nothing better. He ships fast packs things up well and applies tracking very quickly. Personally joe I don't see why you are flaming him when no money or anything of yours was exchanged. Crying about it not going to do a thing, you should of just let the deal go as nothing will change the outcome.

 

Let's review.
One guy is pissed because he was forced to take pictures of what he was selling and the other is pissed because he had to wait 10 hours.

 

i think the seller jumped through a lot more hoops than just taking a couple photos here, additionally a lot was personal information which usually is only given pretty much when a deal is being completed, not still scratching heads over it. but i guess people here don't know what's really involved until they're in the same position.

My bad. He also had to drive 20 minutes on his anniversary. Then he chose to do some other stuff. Why would the buyer even need your drivers license? I usually want money before I give up the title to the car as well.

i'll admit, they're both being a bit turdish about the whole thing, if everyone who had a bad sales experience put up a bad feedback writeup then it would be a sea of brown mud out there. imagine all the bad craigslist experiences that go on every day...
