It has been 7 months now.
I hope by me staying calm and not bugging him, he will eventually send me the part.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

It's amusing to me that in order to get a product you pay for, you have to placate him. It's not your fault that it takes months to get a machined part. Most of the time it's the shop waiting until they get enough orders to meet a certain quantity to save money. Pretty silly short time thinking, and these types of threads are the result of that.

I can't think of a single other industry that this mindset plays. If I walk into Best Buy for a TV, and it's backordered, and I walk in annoyed about that, they don't say "okay, you gave me lip, so we'll just hold it until you be nice."

Maybe before the sale is made, but after, they're the ones that owe you something. The idea that deburring a machined part is a monumental task causing weeks of delay is retarded. I've deburred a machined oil pan, it took me 10 minutes, and it could have been done by most anyone.

Maybe adjust your program and add a chamfering bit to do most of the deburring for you? Saves manual labor, and really isn't that difficult to add to the program, nor does it add much more machine time. Saved our machine shop quite a lot of manual labor.

I live in Idaho, so there is not much I can do. I can only hope he comes through or I will be out $1200. Wouldn't be the first time I have been ripped off tho.
I ordered a used tranny from a guy one time an d it never showed up. Got about the same type of run around with him, but it was only $250.

This gives me little hope.

I feel the guy is just way in over his head or something, just super behind. I get that but damn..

I talked to a lawyer but not much you can do however I did get some good information to protect myself next time.. I’d advise you do the same and use a credit card with “saved” email or text documentation.

That’s all you can do, it’s sad but sometimes it’s the name of the game in this car world we live in. Good luck .
