What ignition system to use with AI

Anybody have any experience in ignition systems running 50/50 methanol/water.
I will be running this with my Haltech E8 (E8 will control injection) and the FJO methanol kit.

I know the autronic has dual power outputs which appears to be a nice feature but it certainly is expensive.

Also what coils can be used? Can I still use the stock coils?

i wish i could be of help to you but i don't have any experience w water. i run 100% methanol. i understand that water requires more spark but don't know that for a fact. i imagine it would depend on your setup, how much boost, hp etc, you plan to make.

i run two Jacobs FC 3000 boxes and two MSD 8253 coils. each runs one leading plug. when i started out i was stupid rich and the setup fired 9.0 AFRs without missing a beat.

one of the things i like about the Jacobs boxes is that they save your plugs. the amp doesn't go to full power until it senses acceleration.

lots run just one MSD 6A and the turbo 2 coils...

correct i often just run one box, but have done two just as howards is setup which is a better route imo but you can always add that second one later down the road.

Is there any advantage to using the box in place of the igniter vs after the igniter?

Also what plugs do you guys run?

Ian, for what its worht I'll be running a single MSD 6A on my TII leading coil, stock trailing in '08 with my meth/water setup.

I have no idea how it will perform but that's what I'm going to start with!

run the igniter into the box.

proper heat-range plugs are important in a number of ways. if you look at a bunch of used rotor housings you will often notice cracks around the sparkplug boss. the cracks come from too much heat which often comes from running too hot a plug. i recommmend a 10 heat range for the leading and a 9 or 10 for trailing.

the B10EGV NGK works well. you can also run the Autolite 3932 (10) or 3933 (9). for making serious hp the NGK 6725 in a 10.5 is my choice.

Can't wait to see your car get tuned next year. See how well its going to work with AI injection.

I think I will be getting the 500r and try the stock coils.

I ran stock ignition with GT35 and 100% meth and went for dyno tune.

Stock ignition could not make it. There was serious break-ups all over the place.
