megasquirt powered ai

Has anyone done this before:
run a megasquirt as a fuel only computer, kinda like a microtech mt4. then plumb up 4 extra fuel injectors fueled by a standard AI pump. You wouldnt even need to run a pressure regulator b/c the ai pumps are preset.
Assuming this works:
$100 pump
$280 -4 1680cc injectors from marren
$250 -megasquirt
$30 - metal for the fuel rails and mounting them
$150 - hose and fittings
-------
$810 for fully programmable meth injection
i was rather generous estimating prices so i bet it could be done for much cheaper. Are there any huge flaws in my logic? I think i am going to investigate this some more.

Thanks

As long as you get injectors that can handle meth you would be ok doing that. A normal, Bosch style, injector won't hold up to the corrosive fuel.

I didn't see them on the site. Maybe I'm just being blind. Also most fuel injectors aren't made to see 100psi that most of the meth pumps put out. Make sure the injectors are rated for the pressure to maintain good atomization.

I think something along the lines of a Microsquirt would work great for our application for controlling it.

Since methanol is corrosive to aluminum does that mean i need to make whatever i mount my injectors to out of stainless. the uim and lim are made of aluminum and they dont seem to have a problem wiht the meth. any idea where i can get stainless fuel rail stock?

From what I have seen, people are just anodizing the rails and using normal extrusions. I could be wrong.

You might give these guys a call as they have done full meth systems (not aux injection) on several imports: Magnus Motorsports

just checked with marren and their injectors can deal with methanol and 110psi fuel pressures.
