no matter how much i read, nothing is ever mentioned about making your own 50/50 mix.

unfortunatly here in ga, we dont get very much frost in winter time so the method of buying washer fluid didnt work at all for me. weird.

i heard about mobile1 fluid being used, but what about straight up mixing this yourself?

well i went over to lowes and got me some ethanol or whatever they sell in the pain department. comes in an orange and blue can or a red and blue can.

i mixed it exactly with equal parts water, but the damn mixture turned milky white and started to get hot.

10 wasted as i threw it away. any other advice? windex?

i dont know what it was, but it was in a small container that was maybee 1 liter, and it cost 10 bucks. it was called methyl something. it was sold at lowes.

Does anyone local to you sell straight methanol? thats the cheapest way. Another option is Heet in the yellow bottle. It's 97-98% methanol.

Mixing 50/50 by volume is not the correct way. 50/50 by volume is more like 30/70. The proper way is to mix it by weight.

 

Considering you are injecting based on volume... you would want to mix based on volume.

So if you had 50/50 by weight... you would really be injecting 62% methanol/38% water by volume. (approx)

 

I would think if AL has washer fluid with meth in it then ATL would also. Might want to check Advanced Auto for their blue stuff, 35% meth.

 

idk i just thought it was funny. the stuff at home deopt isn't the same stuff. sounds like something i would do. I was going to menton the Heet option.

I think my calculation was off. I keep getting confused when trying to calculate it, but i think 50/50 by volume is 46/54 meth/water, which isn't that far off. My math could be wrong again though.

I found this list for a 4 quart container or approximately 3.8L someone should come up with a calculator where you enter the size container and the desired mixture % and it tells you the correct amount of water and meth

47% - 2.5 liters of alcohol

41% - 2.25 l of alcohol

37% - 2.0 l of alcohol

35% - 1.9 l of alcohol

33% - 1.75 l of alcohol

30% - 1.625 l of alcohol

27% - 1.5 l 0f alcohol

 

I bought 2 gallons of methanol @ like 6 bucks a gallon, then 2 gallons of DI water...poured both into a gas canister. Done. Perfect 50/50 doesn't matter...meth and water have their own good qualities.. I was gonna go pure water, but for some reason bought some meth for the hell of it.

I think he misunderstood and thought that you were trying and succeeded in making a perfect 50/50 mixture. instead of the perfect 50/50 ratio not being important to you. (as you meant it) You have to read it just right otherwise it looks like you're saying you made the perfect 50/50 mixture.

 

You're correct, I am saying perfect 50/50 doesn't matter, which I don't have.
