how much pre-turbo water?

i am running E85 so i really don't need any in chamber cooling. i do want to bring down the temperature of the charge air coming out of my turbo.

here's a dyno run from today...

the bottom two plots are the temp of the air coming out of the GT4094r turbo,
329 F, and the temp of the air at the stock IAT location 147F.

we have no knock thanks mainly to the E85 but i want to reduce the compressor temp.

we are around 560 hp and will be raising the boost to 29.

i have a nice setup and will plumb a nozzle into the top of the airfilter. straight water.

my question is what CC (all pre-turbo) do you suggest at 600 hp? again, i do not need knock help, i just want to take 50/100 F out of the compressor.

thanks,

howard

You would probably have to just start somewhere relatively small and do testing to see what works best, too much water and you may lose power. You may want to spray water methanol 50/50, or similar, cause the meth cools off the air more than just water, but then your Afr will go a little richer. It would be interesting to see the results.

I'm testing and tuning with 50/50 water meth, spraying pre turbo and post IC, I've had to greatly increase my nozzles sizes due to the line pressure loss from spraying more volume from two nozzles to get enough water to suppress knock good. But during a 3rd gear pull my fraits readings in the uim do not rise, they start to drop at the end of the pull.

^^ yea, water/meth Is the better lower of intake temps. even just running washer fluid I never saw over 41C on the dyno after 23 pulls (tuning). I would have to look up what the wannaspeed kit puts out over various PSI tho

When I did that pre turbo vs post IC water injection test on the dyno, my air temps went up 12C during the post IC test, and they went up 17C when I let off the gas during the Pre Turbo WI test, but continued to rise for a total increase of 25C. The fraits was right after the fmic outlet, and before the post IC nozzle. The starting air temp was the same for both tests, it was a very cold day.

So if your main goal is just to lower the ait with just water, you're better off spraying after the IC, based on my tests. But to lower temps and increase the turbo efficiency and power, you're better off spraying water meth pre turbo and post IC/pre throttle body
