Help Activate David Hayes' Aquamist Water Injection System

Hello! I need your help in getting my meth injection system back up and running on the car. This thread is for Richard, Howard, and any other auxiliary injection experts that are familiar with Aquamist products.

If you have followed my long winded 3 rotor conversion thread, you might recall I had a "3 rotor" specific Aquamist kit installed on the car about two years ago. The kit was installed by Gotham Racing who subesquently blew up my engine on the dyno so the car was then trailered to Kilo Racing in Orlando FL and it has been undergoing the "fix" process since then with success. Recently made about 600 WHP at 14 PSI so I am pretty happy.

What I need help with now is reactivating my Aquamist system and I'd like help in ensuring I have what is needed for the new "3D" system installs. As I understand it, technologies have gotten better and now instead of a nozzle, systems use injectors which can deliver a finer spray. So my question is what an I keep from my current setup and what do I need to replace/add to update the system?

My engine is a Kilo Racing street ported 3 rotor and I have 850cc primaries and 1600cc secondary injectors. I have a Precision T78mm dual ball bearing turbo and I use the Microtech LTX-12s EMs with MSD Blaster SS coils.

My current Aquamist setup includes:

- HFS Aquamist pump: As I recall the pump is 1.5 times larger than the normal Aquamist pump for the 3 rotor application or at least as I recall from speaking with Richard way back when.
- DDS3 junction box
- FiA2 fuel injector amplifier
- Flow sensor 806-428 with a range of 100-1200 ml/min
- Flow valve 806-244: the leads need to be rewelded on if I still need this.
- Aquamist Flow Gauge

So experts, what do you think? What will improve the above and what needs to be replaced? The pump is still on the car and I have a custom windshield wiper/meth tank on the car as I was running the "blue stuff" windshield wiper fluid as the meth source.

I should also mention I want to reactivate the system as a safety feature and I look forward to your advice and suggestions.

David,

Sorry for taking so long to reply.

I am very glad to know your car isup and runnign a producing some good power. Can you remind me which DDs3 version you have. The system you have got a fine and do not need any upgrades.

Will you be checking/re-activating the system yourself?

Hi Richard. Thanks for the reply. It's version 8. As I recall you felt I might have an issue here but maybe that was another part.

Can you give me some details on nozzles for the system and the newer "fuel injector" types versus regular nozzles? I recall reading about replacing the nozzle with an injector to produce a better, more atomized mist. Is this possible and what are the benefits of doing this? If not, what nozzle do I need to use and should I have more than one? I don't have the nozzle anymore.

Finally, I was thinking about wiring up the system myself and then getting Kilo Racing to to confirm the install and do the tuning with it. What do you think? Are there detailed installation instructions for this? The pump is already on the car.

What say you Richard? Is version 8 a concern?

Sorry for the late reply, didn't manage to visit this site as often as I like.

The v8 is no problem. The failsafe cuts boost to wastegate as soon as the system is detecting no flow, low fow and over flow.

Whar far have you got with the aquamist system, is it totally installed?

Not far at all Richard. Stuff is still sitting in a box waiting to be installed. Had another delay with a fan issue on the car but will most likely get back to this next week.

My biggest question right now is with the injector nozzle. Does it make sense to go to the "HD" injectors or the ones that look like fuel injectors? Or should I stick with the "garden hose" nozzle type?

If I am going to reactivate the system I'd like to do it correctly now. Look forward to your thoughts.

When you are ready to tackle the water injection , just let me know.

Regarding the injector nozzle options, do you have two types? I though we only have one design.

I think we have a failure of communication here I'll pm you when I am ready to start this. I no longer have the nozzle so I'll need to order another one. What I wanted to know is if I should just use the standard nozzle or is it possible to use one of the "fuel injector" types that Howard Coleman has used. I think he calls it HD or 3D water injection.
