Christmas time! But which kit to get.....

Well its that time of year and i thought it would be a perfect time to get a nice AI kit. Coolingmist has a sale right now and you can get there smart injection kit for 299! However im a little overwhelmed by all of the features this thing has and the fact that it uses RPM instead of boost to inject (Is this better?). Would it be better to just get the VC2 unit cause i feel like i would never use all of the features the smart injection has. Heres the link let me know what you guys think.

Smart injection- http://www.coolingmist.com/detailmain.aspx?pid=1005
VC2- http://www.coolingmist.com/detailmai...?pid=Vc2stage1

thanks!

I am not an expert but I would want the system to be boost triggered. You can have 8-10 psi under 4500 in a stock FD. That would be max boost pressure at a relatively low RPM. I'm sure there is some reason for an RPM trigger, maybe on single turbo cars, and not RX-7s.

I just bought the AEM kit. I paid $339 from aemonly.com free shipping, no tax. Seemed like a good combination of function and quality. Made in USA. We'll see how it works once I get it. It comes with a low level sensor and an LED that lets you know if it's working. Cheaper than an aquamist, seemed more quality than the coolingmist. Thats just my opinion after my research.

Plenty of cheap kits.

I advise get a kit that has actually been tested on a rotary that makes DESCENT HP. ESPECIALLY IF YOUR RUNNING WATER ONLY. None of those off the shelf kits flow the required amount of water let alone mount correctly to work in that application.

Who are you responding to? Can you go into more detail about which kit you are recommending and which application you're refering to in your last sentence?

i use the basic cooling mist kit. its $199 without a sale... cant beat that. you get a choice between the M5 or M8 nozzle (injector).

Its a great kit from top to bottom. I reccomend it to anyone!

I inject at 7-8 psi with a 49/51 water meth mix (boostjuice) with the M8 nozzle (500cc). no tuning at all, stock turbo, ECU, intercooler, ect. runs like a beast... i'll never run a turbo car again without it.

On a learning curve and it sounds like my purpose for AI is very similar to yours... i.e. stock boost levels etc. I'm just looking to help control knock and aid cooling. And even though I have a PFC, I won't be tuning with AI.
Couple of questions....
Any pictures of your tank and pump location? And wondering how/why did you settle on that particular boost level and injector sizing? Why not maybe a smaller injector and lower PSI setting for example?

I also bought my water injection system for lowered IAT, knock control and carbon cleaning at stock boost on a basically stock car.

I went with the AEM kit. I have not finished installing it but so far I am pleased with the quality. I'm installing it using the stock wiper tank. If you end up getting a system PM me and I can give you a few tips on pump location and where to drill your washer tank.

Better yet, just start a thread with pictures. Probably more than just the two of us that are contemplating this. Might be useful, especially with those going AEM.

That is the plan. I'm going to try to be fairly detailed. I think much of the info will be useful for anybody who plans on using the stock washer tank.
