autocross/AI
as far as i can tell ( i may be wrong) methanol in AI systems is illegal in SCCA autocross (colorado). So if i get my car tuned for 80% water 20% meth, will it be dangerous to run,or run funny if i use 100% water for autocross days? my setup:
haltech e6k
s4TII streetported 3mm seals
stock s5 turbo
FMIC
i think i want to run 10-14 PSI

Im pretty sure he is refering to the mix of AI 80/20 VRS 100% water. Not total % of fuel.
In my oppinion i would not switch like that with out testing. Or comprimising the tune to work with either mix.
Going from 80/20 mix to 100% water is a large enough to cause problems. But as course with most things on this forum. It depends greatly on your set up and tune. The closer to the edge you are that less room there is for mistakes.

it would depend on how much boost you are running and nozzle size and pump volume at that boost level. i run 50% methanol with an M7 nozzle and just below 11:1 AFRs tuned with the methanol and accidentally ran the reservoir dry one time and the AFRs were still fine but it was only pushing 14PSI at the time so if you are just using it as a safety buffer for heat soak then i would say you probably will be fine so long as your tune is conservative.

well i dont plan to really tune to take advantage of the AI, i just want it for the safety it adds since the stock turbo at 13/14 psi is pretty hot air. Do you think it would be better to tune for 100% water and run that all the time? it is stock turbo so i am not looking at huge HP numbers.
