Yes, you can connect the HFS-5 to the secondary injector.

I believe this is how the RX7's fuel injector banks work:

1) When Primary injector reaches 50% DC
2) the second injection start at 25% DC
3) At exactly the same time, the primary drops down to 25% DC
4) Both injector banks will ramp up to 100% thereafter.

If the HFS-5 is wired to read the secondary injector, it will inject from 25% to 100%. You can set the HFS-5's trip point anywhere below 25%.

Can someone chime in to confirm this?

The reason for the summer was to extend the HFS's operating range form 12%-100%. compared to 25% to 100% (reading the secondary only)

It is a M3 thread.

I don't think BKA has a website. They are listed on our "supplier listing" section of our website.

I thought the secondary was activated by rpm as well. For example I could be on full boost under 3K rpm and only be injecting fuel from the primary. For this reason I believe the summer is needed. I think I'd rather inject based on boost compared to only the secondarys and at that point I don't need such a nice kit as this.

The PFC has a reading on the commander that is IDC. Is this already summed? It doesn't jump around like the primary and secondary individual duty cycles do when you log them...

This just another of the wonderful rotary quirks. This car is such a pain in the ***.

Here is a logged image of Scott's car:

Re trace (top chart): is Primary injector. Ramp up to 50% at (cyan line) and immediately to 25%.

Blue trace (middle chart): secondary injector starts at cyan line. Both start to ramp at the same rate until 119 time-line (x-scale).

Bottom chart: Showing pulse width of both injector pegged at ~6ms after cyan line.

Green trace (top chart): Aquamist prototype summer output.

I'm planning on up setting the system with everything located in the spare tire well. Is this fine,or does the hsv and/or the flow sensor need to be closer to the jets?

The HSV must be in the engine bay - can be 2-3 feet away from the jet or jets.

If you are putting the tank in the tire well, make sure your put some baffle plates or foams in the tank,.

Hi Richard,

I've worked out my flow rate to be 774cc per minute so I'll need to use 2 nozzles. The 1.0mm and the 0.9mm. My question is, which restrictor do I use? The 600 or the 900? I'm guessing the 900 but just wanted to check.

thanks,

Steve

Still waiting for the summer... Maybe you will have time for it during the off season and I can expect it for the early spring?

Any news on the summer yet Richard? I'm planning my install for over the winter and could do with getting hold of it before then.

thanks,

Steve

I am receiving the printed circuit board on Monday, will populate it and test it. Keeping my fingers cross - fire it up and hope it works.

It is a good time to discuss how the summer works, if you have any questions and comments, please chime in.

The summer reads the individual duty cycle of the injectors and adds it up and drives the HSV directly.

User has to dial in the flow capacity of the injectors via two individual trim pots. Adjustment range covers between 500cc/min to 2000-cc/min.

There is a third trim pot that allows user to scale the summed duty cycle by +/- 10%. A 100% DC test button enable the user to test the system without activating the fuel injectors.

There unit will communicate with the DDS3. The supplied FIA2 will be made redundant but please keep it in a safe place so when you decided to put the system back on the market, it will be universal again.

I think your post covers everything I can think of for the moment Richard. I hadn't realised it would replace the FIA2, I just assumed it would go between the injectors and the FIA2.

Re: Testing. I know Scott no longer has an RX-7 but I won't be in a position to help test anything until early November when I get my breakout loom. After that I can help out if you need anything. I'm only in Manchester so it may be quicker than sending stuff over to America.

Good to know we have another RX7 test bed, this time closer to home.

Do you have some sort of logging device?
