Anyone running the new VP M5 methanol?

Anyone try it yet? Making more power? It may not make enough difference on an AI setup where the most you are injecting is 20-25% of total fuel. What about increasing the amount of nirtomethane in the blend or just creating your own blend? Someone needs to try this before me

and....? Give me some details. Any information on the setups? What % of nitro was used? Was this on an AI application or a full methanol burning setup?

Okay,
It's kind of an old thread but I found some legitimate info on VP's website, on the tech FAQs:

Q. Can M3 or M5 be used with a methanol injection kit?

A. I'd use regular methanol like VP's M1 for the injection. This is what I personally use. All you are using the injection for is to cool the air charge. This is how you get more power, because you can add more timing or boost with a cooler charge. M3 has a hydrocarbon in it and won't pull the heat like M1. M5 has a hydrocarbon and a combustion additive. I would definitely not use this. It could have bad results by combusting in the air inlet tube between the turbo and the throttle body. M1 is your best choice.

I'll be sticking with M1, thank you.

something else I've always wondered

You (Gohan3rdrift) submitted:
1.)How long is the M1 methanol good for if left unopened in the metal container it came in? 2.)How long is it good for once it's been opened but still stored in the metal container?

VP Racing Fuels Reply:
If you have methanol in an unopened can or drum, it will be good for up to two years. Once it has been opened we would like to see you use it up with in one year
.

I'm going to try a ~5% mix of nitro this year and see what happens. I've read of others getting some gains off it.

Did they happen to mention how much more timing it allowed them to run, or how much power it yielded?
Intake temp and EGT logs?

And keep us posted on how the 5% mix goes, since no one else has info on this.
