All 3rd gen guys running coolingmist AI

I wanted to alert you and ask if anyone has had a similar problem with their coolingmist AI. The tubing going to the nozzle, on my coolingmist trunk mount kit, split. The split was about an inch long running parallel with the hose. It looks like the hose has a seem and the split happened on that seem. The kit is about a year old. I will soon upgrade this hose to some sort of steel braided hose. I am also going to call cooling mist Monday and let them know.

only 3rd gens?! didnt know you had to take a screening to buy the kit so you only installed it on a 3rd gen... lol

anyway i dont have a coolingmist BUT any pics or info on what kind of hose it is as alot of these water/meth kits run somewhat the same type it looks like. and whats the operating PSI of the system? was it near any heat source scrapped anything at all? more info than it just split please unless thats it nothing noticably wrong.

I tried to make this 3rd gen specific so it wouldn't get moved to this forum, because very few people look at this. But whatever moderator moved it probably didn't stop and think that this could save someones engine. I will try to post pics later. It is the standard nylon tube that comes with the kit. It is routed to the elbow just before the throttle body, so no major heat problems. 150 psi system.

Appreciate the motivation, but to be completely fair you could have waited and called Coolingmist before posting. At any rate, let us know what they say. Coolingmist is also a member of this forum, so maybe they will chime in themselves. Also interested to see if anyone else reports this problem.
As for loosing an engine, are you tuning with AI, or tuning and then adding AI for safety?

Don't get me wrong, this was not a shot against Coolingmist. I love my Coolingmist kit and have had zero problems with it until now. I am just putting out my experience to add to whatever Coolingmist says. I didn't imply that I had any engine damage, as I use it only for safety, but that some people tune with it which could cause a lean condition.

McMaster carries this other tube with thicker walls and is rated at above 250 psi - #5648K511. It has the same 95A durom. it should work well with the instant connectors. But I have not tried it.

Hello.

You are you using the 250 psi pump with the older black hose? We do not use that hose any more due to the issue. The hose is perfectly fine with the 150 psi pumps but the 250 psi is too much pressure.

If you purchased this kit from us, send me an email I will ship you the new hose out, just pay shipping, the hose is free. the newer semi-clear hose is easily the toughest nylon hose in the industry and fixes that issue 100%.

I'll take care of you just email us info at coolingmist.com so I can get you your hose out.

Sorry for the issue.

Its ok, he has an issue that is our fault. There were a handful of kits that shipped with the 250 psi pump and the black hose unfortunately.

The new hose is amazing stuff.

Appreciate you coming on and doing your best to make it right David. But I think he indicated in his second post that it was indeed the 150 psi system.

thats very odd for the 150 psi to split. I will still replace it for him if he emails me. The only thing I can think of , if the pump pressure was increased on the 150 psi, its possible but it would have to be > 200 PSI, but I am skeptical about that. We used that hose for 5 years, so it works well with the 150. Either way...email us and let us know what you want to do.

Thanks for the response David, The kit is the 150 kit and the pressure is set at the factory setting.. I will call or email Monday about the replacement hose. I can send you the section that split if you would like.

we have seen some pumps that put out more than the standard 150 psi. More pressure is the only thing that would cause it to crack. I believe you, we dont sell that hose any more as we only sell the 250 psi pumps now so you dont need to send it back.

Good on David for standing by his customers. I currently run the Coolingmist trunk mount with the 150psi pump and black hose and have yet to experience a problem, but it's always nice to know that David will be there if I do.

to the OP, did you leave your system installed in your car over the winter while in storage? I realize it doesn't get as cold in TN as it does here in OH, but I take my tank out, disconnect the lines, and blow all of the water out. If you left it in there and the water froze in the line, it would create a split like you mentioned.

I only run the -20 washer fluid so freezing is not a problem, plus the car is garaged. Talked to David today and the new hose is on the way. Thanks David!
