air temp based correction AI safgaurd worked

I am using the 3D air temp correction maps off the haltech (ign and fuel correction) as a partial safegaurd and boy did it work tonight. I was ******* with the haltech and switched on the trim ****, taking over control of my cooling mist HSV valve from the map that it normally works off.

I forgot about this and got about 10 PSI of boost. I have no intercooler and the engine saw 225F intake temps seen on the halwin display screen, with the AI turned off. This maxed out both air temp correction maps for fuel and ignition adding about 15 percent fuel (the range 20 percent and its tuned at +5 percent) and pulling about 12-15 degrees of ign timing. No issues no knock as seen on the knock light nothing. I only got into boost once before realizing.

The engine actually went dead rich I am replacing about 15 percent of my fuel with methanol at 15 psi, but since I never saw 15 PSI it added more fuel than I am replacing, also the really hot air is nowhere near as dense than what I tuned for which is a charge in the neigborhood of 100F, that probably had a huge effect in making it rich as hell.

Just a note for anyone thinking of placing the nozzle after the air temp sensor instead of in front of it.

225 deg intake temps, is you're air filter sucking off your radiator??

that wouldn't make intake temps anywhere near that high. Its due to the turbo's compression of the air.

No **** sherlock, but starting with pre-compressor temps of 200+ versus ambient temps are going to make quite a difference...

Hey there holmes, not quite 200+ I ran around with a the HKS intake setup for an FD, because its the only intake I could find with a carb approval.

Little back story I live in California and did a smog legal swap of a 13b-rew into an FC.

I have since fabricated a little shield and gotten the intakes a fresh air supply from under the headlight, which made a huge difference,

But before I did that with one of the filters directly behind the radiator, intake temps at the filter never went above 140 degrees, on a roughly 75 degree day. So yeah again it makes a big difference, but not that big.
