Is this available yet, or still a pipe dream? Does anyone have more information on it, such as what it uses to sense knock?

it's not a pipe dream. you guys need to relax. it should be available by the end of the year.
it will use any knock sensor you want.

It's just me here, no other guys . I wasn't trying to imply anything negative with my previous post. I remember awhile back there was talk about Autronics using an ion sensing knock control system. That would be a really neat feature. I am curious if that ever materialized or there are plans to offer it.

there are no plans right now to offer ion sensing with sm4.
That might be an option with the sm5

 

is this unit independant of the ecu? those it give a voltage 0- 5 volt output?
