just to clarify that... the 2nd hand statement is not true

rego IS expensive (usually around 100,000 yen for 2 years - if no major repairs are needed), there are also yearly car taxes (dependant on area and car, mine is about 40,000 per year), and insurance is worse (the youngest driver on my policy is 25, and, IIRC, a full year of all options comprehensive was over 200,000 yen)

fuel is expensive too...

DaiOni:

I just checked a mates RB and a couple at Car yard ones. Only 1 Oil Cooler. They did not have front strut braces either. Thats the only way i could tell (apart from pulling off the turbo's!!) ??

Also, Base Model (265HP) S8 are still good im my opinion. Get the better cooling revisions, ECU tweaks and better response. ALso, on a cold night i have seen a totally stock RB pull 14psi (Same as 280hp). I swear it didn't feel any different to a 280HP one!! This 2001 RB-S actually felt quicker than a 99 RS that was with us.
Obviously there was something wrong (fuel etc) but just goes to show about Mazda's way of quoting power!!!

Just to let you guys know...if you have a series 6-8 Rx7. Well when you have the radiator ripped outa ya car....this often leaks the AC gas. so.....make sure its working when ya get it back...

Also when they workshop replace ya parts...there is no real way of checking they did dogie work untill you get another mechanic to look at it...

DAMMM...where are some honest good mechanics.....can't find any these days....all rip off artist...

OZ s-7's got nothing but the airbox. They got most of the 'little' tidy-up things but none of the power stuff.

Seven Heaven: I've pulled the rad on a couple of FD's now and still can't see why you should leak AC gas. Did they try and do it from in front or something stupid?

Personally, I'd try and find a clean locally delivered s6. If you've only got $40-45k to blow on an s8 you're not going to be getting anything special and OZ s7's aren't worth the extra money.

All I know is when i brought the car in to get the radiator replaced..they had to take the intercooler off...there are some pipework for the AC gaz unit ....that I guess they did not take off and tried to squezze the intercooler off. So...they did not take off the front bar...took everything off from the top.....

When i got the car back...no AC at all....now its going to cost me 250 to replace it...

bastards...

well to remove the radiator you have to do it from under the car and it's best if you take off the a/c condensor and let it dangle while you fit the radiator. If you don't protect the fins on the a/c condensor it could easily damage.... perhaps this is your problem??

The a/c condensor is that little radiator looking thing in front of the radiator

I hope you had a larger radiator installed than the pathetic OEM

Which shop do you get your work done at? Is your FD similar to the one in your pic?...I have seen one in Brisbane just like it

As in the silver S8 with the glitter stuff in the paint?

The only sensible way to take the radiator out is from above, that's why the lower locator legs are designed that way. Never had to move any AC pipes though.

Ive seen the silver one...not bad.

There are 2 guys in Goodna (think bro's) who have FD's as well. Ones a seriously low black one with huge chunky tri spoke wheels. Spoke with him a couple of times.

Seven Heaven, glad your getting you car back. 3 weeks then??

Oh, BTW, silver looks mad. So clean, and you never see swirl marks in them!!

Yup...offically 3 weeks...10 days spent on getting parts...so...and my car was priority cause i have no wheels. Yes silver one...its nice...I like the red...well I like any thing that has new paint! hahahh....

The black one with tri spokes? I think i have driven it b4..an auto? I was going to buy one...b4 mine..a black one...with sunroof etc...but it was auto...so..

So hopefully its all good now...mechanic just told me oil temp gauge faulty...as with all series 6...the needle jumps up and down...crazy.....

no mine is series 6....dunno they had to move the ac pipe work located on the right hand side...connected to the gas bottle. well not move......stretch i should call it....that could have made it leak...damm mechanics...

R there really that many FDs in brisbane? hardly see any around at all.

Well people! I got my car back....offically damage...3150...tell you what....its a pretty good job. engine bay is clean as.....had to wear the engine in again...cause the springs are stiff...so the idiling is out a little. fixed up all the hoses pipes etc...very happy with the job..also got a clean outside and in...

very neat job in the engine bay...like standard...I have seen rebuilt engines that came from "#$@@#$" mechanics...and boy...what a mess in the engine..and the owner paid 6K for the rebuild...there were lines everywhere....and dirt and crap...

So can't tell you guys much untill I have it running for 1 month or something...so far its a thumbs up for mazkwik in marochodore.

Can't wait to fang it again...see ya guys on the blk top!

Seven Heaven. Na, they're both manual. Saw my car tonight. Motor is totally stripped down now on bench. Dam it looked dirty and oily. Everything ok. Only new thing needed is 2 new housings. Rota's endplates etc fine.

Mavrik....MB...is that the colour.?? I dont see many round indro....though mine's at Sparkles @ Indro Shopping centre around every 2 months. Didn't know you were in Brissy...if you're deciding on a S8 and want a ride in one let me know.

We all should definately should organise a cruise

thanks mate!! I'd love a lift in a S8!! I am yet to even see one in person! Where does your family get their rotor work done?

I live out at brookfield, and I only see a couple of MB (montego blue) out this way occassionaly - 1 of them is parked along the side street of lexus dealership at indro.

We will have to go for a cruise early next year!! Imagine the shock of people seeing a few FD's let alone one! Seriously, the number of people I speak to say they love 3rd gens and they're one of their favourite cars but hardly ever see them! Can't wait!

I see heaps! Hell, I've even seen one of the rare as fu$% polar white ones.

Mavrick, there's actually three MB FD's getting around out that way. The guy at Lexus (I went by and had a look), a middle aged guy from Kenmore (drives to work every day) and me. There's also a VR FD with no rear wing but I haven't seen it much lately.

I'm yet to see/hear an FD as deafening as mine yet though

Only rare on FD's, most common colour on everything else. I think it was only available on the s7 so I guess if you're going to spend $90,000+ on car you probably don't want it to look like a camry They only sold 112 s7's anyway

In actual fact I think the white looked damn good, though I bet 'd get sick of it.

not available in s6? that's strange - maybe the japanese were snapping up all the white ones! Though yeah, I can't recall ever seeing a white oz-spec, mostly black, MB or silver (or these days, hot pink or some other atrocity).

I see that Kenmore Guy drive around a bit. As of 6 months a go my VR FD didn't have a wing intill i re-painted the car and put it back on.

As for white, in the AUS 92 brochure they listed MB, VR and the white so maybe they just didn't sell well. Silver was a strange omission as ive seem many AUS ones of these.

Never seen a AUS spec black FD. Just the imports. Anyone else??

Mavrik : They use Quickmaz Capalabah. Bought the car of Gassportscars.
