NY Can you please look at this rotor

3rd gen jdm engine. I was ready to rebuild this engine wich had no engine damage when i opened it. My friend was inspecting the rotor and shined light inside and saw 2 dots from the balancing holes. Has anyone seen this before ? I can't get anyone to reply.

Yeah sorry man.

I have no experience with the FD motors.

Try throwing your question and pics up on www.ausrotary.com, i'm sure you'll get an answer there.

its the holes in the balancing holes he means, and i have not seen anything like that before.

if the holes are deep and go in to the rotors oilbath, the rotor is done, but if not i would use them.

yes, very small pin holes go through. since posting i have spoke to rob at pineapple racing, i emailed him some pics and he said it was ok to weld the holes shut. thanks for responding.

OK, can see what your up against now
looks to me as if those tips may have had heavy metal inserts to balance the rotor
else i see no good reason to drill through to the oil bath --- unless making a smoke machine
i can't see any good reason why you couldnt just braise them up and re-use them,, though balance will never be optimum
