Got AEM Tuned with TWINS !!!

Well so far so good, when the car is cold startup in Clifornia is not a problem allthough I did seem to hit a rough spot taking off out of the parking lot where I got it tuned at.

Boost right now is at 9-10 PSI, and since in Socal I405 is a nightmare (traffic wise) on any friday afternoon, I didn't have much of a chance to open her up and see what it transitions to and when.

It's definitely louder, and no longer backfires which it was doing back on the stock ECU. The driveability is very smooth once warm, seems like the warmup process is the toughest to tune since it takes so long to cool back down and then you have a narrow window where you can datalog and see where the "Bumps" are.

From what I can tell it's solid though. I'm at work now but I will post the map as soon as I get a chance. Oh but there might be a compatibility issue (Oops Roumor starts here: There might be a new software relase soon)

So stay tuned (Pardon the pun) and I will post the map.

This weather blows ! Figures THE weekend I get my **** tuned it's raining !!!... I nearly lost controll on the onramp to I10 Yesterday. I mean it's dry for over 10 months in the summer but damn if it doesn't start pouring .... so I'm not going to be doing any hard runs this weekend... but I'll let you know as soon as I do....

Okay Sunday was pretty Dry, so I went out and tried it... the Basemap on the AEM forum was tuned for my car, so it should be great !
Well it's pretty cool, to be able to finally stop swapping the ECU from stock to AEM back and forth...

There is a Lot more smoke (blue / oil) during the initial warmup period. So, something isn't right in the warmup, and I don't know if you can tune the Oil Meetering pump based on coolant temp. I tried messing with the Oil meetering pump parameters and basically covered my car in smoke, I'd say hook that baby up to a switch and play spy hunter...

Other than that drivability and reliability seem to be good once the car warms up.

Still not easy to start, but usually fires on the second try... so I could immagine it's probhably a bit dry to start but, once you turn it over and add some fuel, swish it around and light the match again, it fires.

In my huble oppinion, it's no Power FC, but then again you can play with everything yourself instead of XS Engineering doing it and / or shelling out a buttload of cash for a datalogit...

Man I am so stoked to hear it. Your mods sound very similar to mine. I definitely want to take a look at your maps or chat with you on the phone. Have you gotten a chance to check the transition yet?

Red face

Yeah it transitions, the problem is I need to keep my eyes on the road not on my boost gauge when i'm driving like a NUT !
Plus I have a Defi Gauge cluster and god knows why they picked such messed up divisions of 2.5 Psi per tick...
but they did so it's a bit tricky to read the exact psi that I'm getting... I would say it stays below 10 in the 9.5-10 range at wot transitions to somewhere between 7-9 so 8 would be a good guess and goes back up to 10 sometimes when you hit some cold air or during specific temp changes you'll spike at 10.5 / 11 but it has only happened 1X while I was watching the Boost... and it happened to get a bit colder outside (Cloudy Day).

So -> Twins Transition ! Now to figure out how to get back to 12 PSI like my stock one used to make...
But I'm very scared... after the whole Oil Meetering Pump Problem !

Hmmm, guess need to start checking vacuum lines or something. That map runs sooooooo much better than the last one but I'm still only seeing like 7lbs. I tried palying with the wastegate settings and it seems to have no effect. With the last map I was getting 15lbs @ 3000 but it would fall off to 5lbs by 5500. I still feel like the settings are not right but I'm not quite sure what to do about it.

I had mine checked like 2K ago, and my mechanic said that teh previous owner had them replaced because they're all silky smooth, so I doubt it was tuned with vacuum problems.

How's the map otherwise !? does it transition !?
and I had mucho problems in 5'th getting boost.
How's the boost / fuel on the map at high speeds!?

I made the mistake of trying to cold start it today. It smoked like a bitch and ran like ***. Felt like it was running on one rotor. Had to put the PFC back in and drive for almost 5 miles before it finally started to clear up. Pretty scary. I'm hitting the track at Sebring this weekend so I guess I'll be sticking with the PFC for now.

I'm also working on getting cold starting to be better, and adjusting the Oil Meetering Pump, once I've done this to my satisfaction I'll try and re-post my modified base map to the forums...

Your the man! I have played around with the dash some. How do you specify what the guage you are creating is monitoring?

You Create a gauge... Like Coolant gauge for instantce..
right click on it and options will pop up... there you setup what the gauge's range is... 0-220 degrees fareheit in this instance... you setup how you want the gauge divided up one line per 20 degrees etc....
and then you specify the value to grab the data from in the top right hand corner... and Radiator Temp, is Coolant and not "Coolant F" for some strange reason... but once assigned save, and run the gauge...

The trick is to go into Vew -> Parameters and start checking out what's hooked up that you want gauges for and what the value range of those gauges is so you can properly set them up as well as see which ones are getting data, some are just On / Off pretty boring for a gauge but for instance for the A/C it is kind of cool to see when the EMS kicks off the AC depending on how hard you push the car...

Here's what I have so far...

Feel free to modify learn etc.. if you have something that kicks (butt) please post so that everyone can enjoy...

I've got a better basemap where I've tried to make engine starting a bit easier, and I'm getting there or so it seems... I will post it as soon as I get something that works well enough to make me feel it starts like stock...

Are you guys running a wideband and using the autotune or just building your own maps on a Dyno?
I am wiring my car this weekend for the OZ DIY WB.

I started tuning with the new updated basemaps on the forum, and the car started up first try, which is unheard of up here at 5500ft. Would of thought it would have been way to rich. I did foul the plugs after 5 minutes or so though lol.

The next morning It started cold after some "urging". So far i'm impressed.

Havn't done any more tuning due to the laptop bieng in for repair. We will see how it goes.

Any updates Dcrosby?
