Cost & suitability for 13BT in FC?

My car currently has a Microtech MT-8 but I'm looking to move to an AiM dash/data acquisition system. This seems an appropriate time to upgrade the ECU to something that interfaces with the AiM.

How much is a suitable AEM EMS? How much of the stock ignition does it use? Sensors?

Please & thank you.

Just talked to a local AEM distributor yesterday and it looks like AEM is dropping the prices of the Series 1 EMS soon, down to like <$1400.

It retains the stock ignition system or accepts an upgraded ignition system. I think all stock sensors work, but upgrading the knock sensor to the Mitsubishi unit is highly recommended.

GL, I'm trying to get the new Series 2 unit that will come out sometime, no date given on when it will be released, but I have nothing but time now.

Also, was talking to the distributor and asked if he would be interested in a GB for a further price drop. So if you know anyone whos on the fence tell them to keep an eye out for it.

My race shop and engine tuner got together and they've used the Universal EMS in the past on 13BT builds so the order is it. The Universal is not cheap. I wish they could have repurposed the FD version as it would have saved a bunch of cash. :-/

I have a GM knock sensor in the car already by way of the J&S unit... it'll be nice to remove one of the boxes from the car since the AEM can do knock.

You could have, just needed a universal piggyback harness or maybe even used the Banzai Racing PFC harness.

There have been a few people that have used our PFC adapter to install the FD AEM in their FC's. It was mentioned on the AEM EMS forum.

There is no factory wiring left in the race car. The current harness is just whatever the Microtech MT-8 needed to operate. There is nothing to adapt.

The interesting part is that the FD AEM EMS was suitable in an FC. It's significantly cheaper than their Universal unit...

You are kind of stuck when pulling out a Microtech or Haltech. The Universal AEM is really expensive, then you have the buy the harness as well. I looked into it for my 20B, but went with a different system.

Yes the FD AEM PNP will control the FC just like the FD PFC, it works perfectly.

I read on the AEM forums that it wouldn't work; something about the CAS and some other sensors being incompatible. Doesn't matter to me, though, as the guys working on my car have gone ahead with the purchase of the Universal box. Here's hoping it was worth it!

That is misinformation. The FD CAS is 12-1, FC is 24-2 but rotates at half the speed so (12-1), same signal. Any FD plug and play EMS can be used in the S4/S5 FC with our adapters.

Hopefully your installers will get it sorted out. They will have to use the FD CAS configuration in the AEM on your FC to make it work.
