AEM Car won't even start!!!!
The car was already warmed up so I shouldn't have to mess with the warm enrichment right?
If so what exactly do I have to do to get this damn thing to start.
Plug and play my ***!

I had the car running on my Pettit ecu, took it out, put in the AEM and it wouldn't start.
It's suppose to have the base maps already so you can just plug it up and start the car, right?? I know it takes some people several cranks but mine won't start no matter what.

Won't Start trouble
When you install the unit you need to be sure you are running the latest files from the AEM website. They do upgrades after the release. you then have to sync the timing of the motor to the timing on the AEM unit. This is a MUST to allow the AEM to know where the motor is at timing wise. You then need to "teach" the AEM where the throttle position is so it knows the baseline throttle position. This is NOT a a preprogrammed chip! it is a engine management system and thus needs calibration and tuning. My unit was so rich on startup it was smoking and chugging and would fuel foul the plugs if you left it idle for long. The plug and play refered to the plug into the stock wiring harness and start tuning not pretuned to do everything for everyone. due to the vast amount of aftermarket parts and geographical differences in tempeture and air density in different parts of the country and the world the "base" maps should be just enough to start the car and begin the "tuning" process. If you wanted a pretuned unit then you bought the wrong product and should sell it.
If tuning is beyond your capability then hire a tuner or sell the AEM because it will not work right out of the box.
This is not a bolt on and go product it is a highly capable tuning system with tons of features so don't cut what you don't understand.
Get a Wide band o2 sensor and learn what you need to know to tune your car then you can see the extreme capability of the AEM PnP!!!!
Don't take me wrong lots of people will be willing to help with the AEM unit but to start out bitching because the unit is not Plug and Play is a misunderstanding of what the AEM unit is all about. What works for me won't work for you so you need to learn tuning for your 7's sake.

I understand what this ecu is for. From what I read from AEM you don't need to set the timimg. I know the tp min has to be set before you start the car, then the max after the car is started. I have a tuner set up but just threw it in the other day to see if it would start like everyone elses.

You really should upload a known good base calibration file. The unit may come with a base cal installed but why take the chance. You have the ability to upload the file so why not do it and know what you have.
The same applies to verifying the ignition timing; it takes all of 15min to know what is happening rather than taking someone’s word that it is correct.
Knowing what you have takes a lot of the guesswork and frustration out of the system.

I agree

That was the recomended install when I put mine in. the subject started with "car won't start" so IMHO you go back to the basics of air fuel and timing. When I installed my unit the timing was about 7 degrees (guess) off the peg, after cal it idled and I could start working on fuel.
