The Tech line hours are 7:30-5:00 PST (Southern California), the line is busy allot, but if you leave a voice mail they are good about calling back.

Right now there are only 2 guys taking care of all the Tech calls, they are looking to hire others if any of you are interested. Check out the post on their web site http://www.aempower.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=1140

My car probably takes 5-6 cycles to start, but I haven't really messed with the startup settings yet, working on drivability in heavy traffic and some WOT stuff when I have time.

How did you smooth out the 1.5krpm off throttle or light throttle bucking?

I played around with some of the throttle mod table and fuel map around 1.5krpm and low load to about 0 psi.

My car can at least start with no assist from throttle, but it still takes a few cranks to catch. Every now and then I get backfire so I have to catch the temperature again so I can lean out that area in the crank fuel table.

I went into the base fuel map and added some fuel at light loads and got it to an A/F of around 12.5-12.8 then adjusted the throttle accel table to take care of the lean area just as you apply the throttle.

Make sure your coolant temp is up to operating temp and all the warm-up enrichment fuel is zeroed out.

Isn't it correct to say no matter what FC / ECU you get you'll have to take it to a "Pro" / Dyno to get something that meets your needs, I.E. Power, Reliability etc...

Even my mechnic told me that the Power FC is only "So / So" tuneable under No Load, so you need to put it on a Dyno or have you Girl / Wife drive it "Screech" !
To be able to tell what the car is doing under Load.

My personal dilemma is that I can get PFC with datalogit or AEM, at about the same price, but what I'd really like to know is how proficient are the Dyno places with either technology, since those are the people that will extract the most HP out of it without blowing my engine...

BTW, What kind of liability do dyno places have !? Do they cover them blowing your seals !?

Any good tuner should be able to tune either system. No dyno place is going to accept liability for your engine. For one, they have no idea what it's been through before you brought it to them. I threw my 7 on the dyno with the aem for a couple of quick pulls betwen customers, and I am at over 500hp to the wheels with just 21psi of boost! I fully expect to hit 600 next time around. The car still drives better than stock ever did, and it took me all of 25 minutes to get it to that level. In my opinion, you are crazy to spend the same money and get anything else.

We have established that the base maps are bad.

Ok now what about the rest of it?

I have some experience with another stand alone ecu. "Hondata". This one had some issues with speed. You had to actually program ahead what was occuring which was a pain in the ***.

Can you program as you drive? Or must you shut off the car and flash the chip every time (which sux).

How is AEM? Has anyone actually fully tuned a car with positive results?

I plan on installing it later this winter.

e AEM is real time adjustments; anything you change while connected to the ECU is saved in the ECU. Off line adjustments are possible also, you just have to save the file and upload it to the ECU.

Haven't been able to get the car on a dyno yet, but the drivability is very good.
