Angry Stop Treating this ECU Like A DIY!

I'm not sure if it was the recent transition into heavier marketing, the amazing Plug and Play Features, or the pricepoint, but this is some SERIOUS hardware and excellent software. I'm comparing it's features directly with AEM, which I regard higher than Haltech, but you know what? Their forums are FAR better because of the people using them... This forum should be used for DEVELOPMENT and have serious discussions in regards to the improvement of the software.

What I'm seeing on here a lot recently is, "I bought this ECU and it doesn't run my car."

Why? Who is your tuner?

There is so much bullshit in this automotive industry with falsified information, but I promise you, with some research, the answers are out there. Stop being lazy *****. There's a list of certified tuners out there for you, and you shouldn't have purchased something without having that planned out. (ie. Dynojet/Dynapack, Location, Tuning Fees, Tuner, Wiring/Fueling/Custom Work) If your local tuner is better with another ECU, that should have been considered as well.

A few forum members, including myself are going the extra mile to help dial you guys in, for FREE, with awesome additions to your basemaps. I'm at the point where I tell someone the right way to do something and they completely ignore it. This devalues my time and effort and is a spit in the face. If you are going to consult someone, then follow through...send beer or something.

Adaptronic has PLENTY of YouTube videos to help you understand their tuning philosophy and the staff is incredible to work with for setup and support. Don't take advantage of them...

MoTec forums don't have "help me, help me" posts... Do you know why that is? Look, if you want your ECU company to succeed, then stop acting like a bunch of dumbasses and help with the development side of things. This will make current and future products better, bottom line.

Wonder if there's an app for that?

Back in the day, tuning = changing carb jets and adjusting timing

Agreed. This forum should be more of a development place, and less of an outlet for complaining.

I will say, as a somewhat recent owner of a PnP flavor ECU, the learning curve can be steep, especially if this is the first attempt at tuning a car. However, once over the hump, things start to make sense faster and faster. (at first it was kind of I didn't know what I didn't know type of thing)

I agree...kinda.

I can honestly say the Adaptronic PnP is the most user friendly ECU and tuning interface (at least wari in my opinion) that I've come across. I started with this ecu on my first pass tuning a car and was ultimately successful, the key to which being reading for comprehension. There are numbers great threads on here that explain the tuning process, common issues & solutions, troubleshooting, what each page and tab does, and what to look out for but for whatever reason some people seem to want to skid the reading/research/effort part.

I have ZERO problems helping out and enjoy doing so, but you have to make a legit effort on that end too. If you have no desire to learn, I'll still gladly do it...but you'll have to pay me.

There is some good stuff in this forum but its hit or miss. I agree that people do need to realize the "adaptronic" doesn't just adaptive tune the map for you and the ECU isn't a replacement for the tuning process. The function serves as a tool. Period.

And lastly, its irritating how I find myself fixing tunes written by some of their vendors. I will not be naming names but it is infuriating that a person would drive 6 hours to a shop/dealer/tuner pay money for a tune, then be sent home with a car that can't half stay running or is only setup for one ambient temperature. I mean you don't have to set up the air temperature trim table for exact values measured but DAMN. Don't send a customer home running an 11.3 AFR in July on pump 93 at 16 PSI on a non-built stock motor running 17 degrees of advance at 6000 rpms with a 10 split and no air intake temp compensation. In January he'll be running a 12.5 and lucky if the motor holds.

Sorry for the rant. I'll keep on keepin on.
