Ihor is the best rotary mechanic I've experienced in a while. Highly recommend him to anyone in the area needing a professional to work on their car.

Its sometimes a crap shoot when you bring your car to a mechanic. They are in the business of getting things out quick and who knows who actually works on the car sometimes and whether they have the time to do the job RIGHT. I felt very good coming in knowing that Ihor has been fixing FDs for quite a few years and only had ONE car to work on - MINE.

I needed to get my oil pan re-sealed (which we all know is a bitch and a half), re-install air pump and associated hardware for emissions and change the diff oil. He did all that and also got me some new belts b/c he saw that mine were toast - that was a nice detail that some places might not have caught. He took my car in last minute as I was moving and did all the work while treating me very professionally the entire time.

Ihor and Rich ported my reman, did the R&R, and suggested other key things to fix/change that were screwed up from other shops work and some things from age.

I think the car made some decent power

Best part? It took 3 WEEKS TOTAL from the weekend I drove up to Clifton, NJ, to the day I was driving back up to pick up the finished product.

 

I don't know about that. He might be too busy working on his own car then.

 

I happened to stop in as they were wrapping up and about to start your car. Started on the first try! I've never seen that happen when trying to start a fresh motor. Not even on Overhaulin. That baby wanted to run!

 

i wonder if they do house calls...

 

oh yeah, forgot to add, I also received the standard Gotham Racing engine work warranty and break in instructions. So, in essence, the work and then the tuning a coupe weeks later by Steve, made all of my work done on the car in the last couple months "Gotham Racing" standards.

Rich, Ihor, and Steve are the best people I've dealt with for car work on any car I have ever owned.

i think an unsoldered resistor in my secondaries might have been the cause of my problems. ill find out as soon as i get it resoldered...

The car should still run on the primaries, just don't boost it or rev past 3000. Bring it by I'll sort it out.

Great Experience working with them. Bought a completely molested 3rd gen in december, every body panel was keyed, motor was roasted (and made up of fd and t2 parts) all types of mayhem.

I'm mainly into FC's so I didnt know all the differences between the FD and FC motors, i figured there were a lot less then there are.

I also was waiting on getting parts from a vendor who I wont name, because they screwed me over with my FC, but anyway they were very courteous, opened the block found out that all I could really reuse was one rotor and the e-shaft. They actually personally owned the exact spare parts I needed and gave me a great deal on them.

They dealt with my own timing issues, waiting for parts, and were very understanding. I'd gladly bring any motor work I have to them for their work. They fully explained everything, even detailed the reccommended break-in and explained the warranty.

I brought the motor home, it sat for maybe 2 weeks (had to wait on more parts) then we dropped it in.

After priming the system with oil I cranked it over for the first time, and that baby puttered right to life and idled, albeit rather smokey but still idled beautifully for an untuned brand new motor.

Definitely give these guys a call when you need something for your car! Can't wait to see what numbers it puts down.

He changed my rear end and i few other things in my fd last week and i'm happy with the work, the only that sucked was the drive from CT to NJ and back.

Yea I like to use alot of assembly lube and generously coat everything that requires lubrication during assembly. There are some that just slap on some bearing grease but we use the real stuff.

I spent today redoing the garage and adding some equipment. Made a ton more room. Added a full size parts washer sink. We are now also set up to press bushings and bearings.

 

Stokedxiv and I did the same thing tonight...we re-arranged our garage and building another work bench for added goodness Looks like you guys are getting some good business, we're pretty slow down here but still semi busy.

Yea i looked in the exhaust portsa and could see all the lube, id prefer things to be overlubed then underlubed

I've been planning on swinging over to you one day to give you a look and hear of the motor but I want to tidy up the bay a bit more and work out some vaccuum tuning tweaks (almost completely fixed). I mainly have to adjust the pipe from my t04z to the I/C (need a 45deg coupler) and then I'll give you guys a holler and let you see it.

Once it's running really good and broken in I'm going to do a final tidy up (right now everything is simply setup to be easily disassembled, adjusted or moved) and then send it over to kahren for some boost tuning and dyno runs.

i'll keep you informed.
