Los Angeles.......85 GS vs. 01 Saturn SL
okay so on the subject of street racing I just left about half hour ago to hit the local 7-11 to grab a beer cuz I am way bored since I didn't go out tonight.
It's about 3/4 mile away.....I am at this one stop light, its a protected left turn, you know, green arrow red arrow. And the street is 8 lans wide and after the turn is 6 wide(3 in each direction).
So I am at the red arrow and some cars are coming up to it and on my left this red SL2 saturn pulls up with some kid driving it......I know I know Saturn eewwww......So I am driving my buddies super clean 85 GS, he just got it from the original owner and the car is flawless inside and it just has a RX2 carb and headers....No top end on it really cuz it has a single tip exhaust...
So anyway I notice out of the corner of my eye that the kid is checking out the car subtly but I really don't care.....I am on a mission of beer!!!!!!!!
So the light turns gree and he gets on the throttle as I hear his, possibly Ram air intake pipe, get loud and I am on the gas without skipping a beat or even stressing......I have been doing this for almost 10 years......it's natural by now.....So we full throttle thruogh the turn while this crap non-lsd GS I am in wants to get sideways as I play the throttle trying to keep the open wheel from spinning, we bounce and I only take it to 65, it was a 40mph street, and the kid gets off the throttle as I do, yes I was in front, about 1.5 cars, without flooring it and slowing down in 2nd to see if he was still trying to race me....
No words said, just a feeling and an action, thats how it is on the streets most of the time out here......no one really yells out "hey wanna race?"
You just stay on your toes and if someone drops full throttle on the green then you know your in a race......
Anyway the kid rolls up to the same 7-11 as me and he didn't say anything as we walked in so I broke the ice saying "hey, your saturn is way faster then a civic"......he laughed and said yeah I can eat those up.....
He asked me if my car was sputtering when we were running them and i said "no"...
I told him that he was hearing me let off the throttle at top end of a gear to let him catch up.....He laughed and said "yeah I know rotaries are pretty fast, I've seen them run before"......Ahhh the legend lives on........
It's not much to brag about but its fun to see such an old relatively stock POS rip on a newer fuel injected car......Especially when the other guy just doesn't know what it's all about....
Do we have any street kids of the night out here in the 323, the 626, or the 562 AreA CodE??????????????????
Any local rotaryheads on here that are into cruising for trouble hit me up mang!!!!

hahahhah.....I have to hand it to saturn.........They are quicker and seem to feel like they have more torque than Civics and Cavaliers of the same model years.
HaHAAHAH
I'm up for a rematch anytime......It's all in good fun......Till I decide to roll out the Bridgeport......heehehe

WHP has yet to be seen.....The fuel system is getting a change over right now to Power Enterprise brand components. Also I am waiting for a different reflashed ECU.......Besides I wouldn't dare disclose that info on the forum.....
AhaAAhhaha........then everyone would know if they should race me or not when I'm at the track with a fist full of money.....ROFL

it's cool....at least you're in a S5.
It took me several 1st gens before I realized to be fast and look ultra cool you need to be in a second gen.......hahah
..So do you go to any of the local rotary meets out here??
A buddy of mine has a S5 GTU but I never saw under the hood before because he said it was stock.......WEll Stock doesn't begin to explain it...........His S5 GTU has series 4 motor in it.........Talk about sad......I know you can't be as slow as that......Damn I don't even think my2a is as slow as that.....
You know you can get a turbocharger setup from a series 4 or S5 and bolt it up to your car and just front mount the stock top mount intercooler and your car will be much quicker than a TurboII........And you don't have to worry about buying an FCD....you can use the N/A ecu thats already in your car..
I have done that to many cars in the past.........Yes it is reliable, just don't boost over 10 pounds for to long..
But yeah...If you ever roll out to any of the meets or go to check out the street race in Carson or Ontario hit me up..........
Peace...
