GP Sports super angle kit worth it?

I was wondering if anyone has experience with this kit? Im building an FC strictly for drift, and i was looking at this kit to increase angle. I got the FC body for free, so im looking to have some fun with this car.

Are these kits pretty much the only option to increase angle? Ive heard about the spindel mod, i would like to see pics of that if anyone has them available. But any secrets or info on angle will be greatly apreciated

Thanks in advance, Brandon

don't need them. You can get plenty of angle without them. Ofcourse, you can just use some washers instead. Ten cent and ten minutes and you'll be set. Todd at NCDA knows all about that.

Ghetto rigging your steering to get more angle is not the way to do it. If you are going to do something, take the time and money to do it right. The last thing you want is for your steering to go out in the middle of a drift.

i wouldn't recommend the FC for drifting. Never tried it myself, but all I've read about is how very difficult it is to drift. Much better sticking with like a 240.

I drift my TII. It's not as easy to drift as a 240, but it is still a very capable drifting platform.

the fc is harder to drift primarily because of the shorter wheelbase and the fact that it is balanced so perfectly for grip driving (50.2/49.8)

Toe-steer eliminator bushings, mid-high RPMs, and a corner are all you need.

mazdatrix carries a super steering angle kit that works well.
i agree with boostedrex-you definatly want to do it right, home-depoting it could lead to disaster, and that could lead to you spending more money fixing what broke than you would have spent to get the kit and do it right.
also, to continue on the tangent...IMHO, the FC makes a fine drift car. sure, it might be a little harder to learn(especially if you have an open diff, like me!)but it sure is a fun car to drift in. plus, everyone drifts a 240 these days-i enjoy being different

ha the fc is an awesome drift car if you dont suck. 240's are practically cheating after an sr swap. after learning to drift on a severly underpowered ae86 the fc was a breeze. I guess learning to do it right instead of just ebrake and power over helps a lot.

I had posted this over on No Pistons to a similar question.

Welcome to the aggrevating world of driftinng FCs, enjoy!!!!

No, seriously once the car is PROPERLY setup its a drift machine, in my opinion more stable and controlable than 240's. The best way I can rate the FC is it being a intermedaite-pro, were as a 240 is a beginner. A few of my friends that have FCs jumped into 240's and looked like they have been drifiting for years.

Well on the Angle kits, the GP Sports and SuperNow!'s are pretty much identical other than the aluminum rods being orangish/gold (Possibly just rebadged SuperNow!'s). I recommend SuperNow!'s for a couple reasons, one they offer a race version (high strength rod end for high load applications), I know more people running SuperNow!'s than GP Sports. Lastly, which I think has alot to do with more running the SuperNow!'s is the places that carry/can get the GP Sports have a turn around time of 4-6 weeks, myself on the other hand can be as fast as 3-4days, plus my prices are about the same at the 3-4day as the competetiors 4-6 week. I have sold many kits over the last few years, most notably to Tony Angelo, seriously before he got his FD to build up he told me to get him a set.

I DO NOT recommend the washer mod, it gives you minimal steering angle increase and minimal thread egagamnet on the steering rack, which equals snapped tie rod and possible injury or death. If you do not have the cash to buy a proper safe part, wait til you have it rather than risking your life OR someone elses life.

I'm gunna have to agree with everyone else on this topic and say don't cheap out. especially if your going to be drifting because drifting is hard enough on the car as it is. You don't want to be breaking anything in the middle of a drift. I'd say break down and buy the GP Sports kit or the MazdaTrix kit and just bite the bullet.

The MazdaTrix kit is the GP Sports kit. Which is $278.85 and usually has a turn around time of 4-6 weeks.

My prices are the following for the SuperNow! (includes 7-10day shipping from Japan):
-Street Version (same as GP/Mazdatrix) $265
-Race Version (3pc rod end and 3x stronger than the street version) $325

For $10 more shipping can be upgraded to 3-4 day shipping.

You can also get just the spacers for $70, which yeild the same angle increase, but does not include the tie rod end and bumpersteer bolt.

I have been getting people asking about the steering angle increase. Its increases the angle by 7 degrees, yet it does not sound like much, but it makes a huge difference. I will have to post pictures of with and without the kit.

That kit looks nice. Which kit is pictured, the regular or the race version? And please do post pictures of with and without the angle increase kit. I've heard that after you get the kit on you can turn the wheel enough to have clearance issues while on stock suspension. To me, that's a good thing. The more steering angle the better!!

I didnt really plan on taking the cheap route on this, thats why inquired on the GP sports kit. And now thanks to you guys. I know of the SUPERNOW! kits, with I think would be better for me. Im pretty new to the Mazda thing. But Ive drifted in several cars, Im no pro, but i try as much as I can. I dont have a drivers licence at the moment, so I cant go out everyday and lpay around Ive drifted an AE86 with a Cusco 2way (short wheels base and almost 50/50) Someone threw that out there as a defense for an FC not bieng a good drift car. And i have an S14 with an SR swap ive built.

Im doing this FC pretty much just because I love building cars and havent played with a Mazda yet. I have it stripped down to the base Frame and whats left of the body. Im stitch welding the whole chassis, then caging it. The im contemplating on a LS1/6sp or SR swap. Im leaning towards the LS1.

Its going to be a track car. So its deffinatly gonna see ruff times.

AGHHHhhhh this is the kind of **** that give's people such animosity towards drifting. Seriously, I read **** like this and it makes me scared to be out on the road.

Get a license and then start drifting, I know everyone wants to be as cool as Takumi, but other people drive on the road as well.

--Fritz

PS. and if I am wrong and you aren't 15, and for some reason your lisence was suspended, maybe it was a hint towards changing some sort of past behavior and the lesson isn't being learned.

as said by RXgirl7 ... mazdatrix c arries a fairly priced super angle kit.... (~250-300) i think that if you really wanted to, you could do a ghetto job ... but i wouldnt recommend it, its better to spend 300 for a tested and proven part then to spend 300 or more to fix your stock parts that were f*cked

The kit pictured is the SuperNow! street kit, the race kit looks identical aside from the rod end.

I found some old pics of with and without the SuperNow! Super angle kit. As you can see there is a big difference, bith cars have the steering fully locked, as if you were drifting.

Yea im deffiantly not 15, Im 21 now and ive been working on cars at a shop since i was 17. So Im not some Initial D turd wanting to reiterate what I see and hear on cartoons.

The few times Ive been out drifting have been in secluded, or closed of parking lots on private property.

It looks like the SUPER NOW! race kit is what i wanna go with when the time is right. That along with the Spindel mod will make for a nasty steering angle. FC3SPRO.com says that the spindel mod and spacers they yeilded about 50 deg angle or more.

"We're getting up to 50° and more steering angle with this mod! "
