Mine looks the same. 1992 JDM RHD car, all original.
I wondered this myself, but it looks to be a silly oversight on Mazda's behalf, as all the FD's I've ever seen have this problem. It only bugs me when I notice it. Still, for a car that cost $90,000 Aussie dollars when new, I would have expected better fit and finish in an area you look at very often.. :s

Mine aren't, but they are not that far off. I just took my cluster out to replace the leaky cap and I didn't adjust it, just bolt it back up and snap it back on the car. Right now if I look at it directly is it off center, but they look center if I sit back like how I would sit when I drive.

I'm pretty sure the Series 7/8 cars (1996-2001) are the same. Because I'm using the clear plastic gauge lense plate out of a 1999 car in my car and it fits no better. In fact, the fit was still very average in the silver 99 car I removed it from.

Unless its some sort of crazy attempt to 'make it "look" centered to the driver when he is in his position in the drivers seat- IE they made it off center to account for the seating and viewing angle.. But I'm probably over thinking it. Simplest explanation is the fitment of it is just sh!tty..
