For me, I would say mechanically it is in much better shape, having a new engine and all that.
Cosmetically it has taken a hit, several more door dings, a few more paint chips, etc.

better

when i bought it, it had a boost leak - replaced the Y pipe & crossover pipe. i bought mine with only 29k miles on the body (it had just over 30k miles now) so it's still very clean.

Better, when I got it, the turbos only spooled 3psi, blew oil and had tons of shaft play. It had a coolant leak from the short turbo coolant hose behind the airpump.

Now....aside from a bunch of other stuff I have fixed, big and small, it has become to be my reliable daily driver.

Paint could use some work though...

well... Performance wise it's way better but overall I would say worse.

Currently undergoing a full makeover including paint, rims, sleek lights, bumper, sideskirts and a wing. In addition to undergoing a heart transplant with a GT35R single with all of the supporting mods.

I bought the car 9 years ago and it was in pristine condition. 100k miles later it's taken it's toll. There is a thing to be said about low milage cars ya know

Definitely better. Especially after the last 2 months (done an assload of work to it). My car was higher mileage when I bought it, but immaculate in and out.

better

1. filled all the paint chips and buffed the crap out of the paint til it glows.
2. Replace a marred yellow alarm indicating lamp
3. Replaced the ugly steering wheel with a 99 nardi
4. New radio and speakers
5. Did all mtce - oil, filter, diff, trans, air filter, etc
6. Cleaned everything back to looking like new
7. replaced antanna mast
8. had brake recall done and then did it again myself when the dealer did it wrong and I almost smashed my front end over the winter.
9. added boost, oil tem and water temp gauges in the din panel
10. New tires

more to come...

When I picked up my Fd it had 4.5K miles on it and not one rock chip. With 25K miles on it now the driveline is not as "tight" as it used to be and there are few rock chips. So I guess I would have to say worse.

Much better..Originally purchased with an *unknown* blown coolant seal and major oil leaks, replaced with a Pettit built streeport..Originally purchased with major electrical problems, all of which are now fixed..Originally purchased with all bad pillowball bushings, bad shocks, and cut springs to fit a body kit,now with a completely brand new suspension setup..Originally purchased without a single reliability mod,now with all reliability mods completed.

i cant imagine many folks are going to admit they suck at maintenance and actually create a post to tell everyone they let their car go to $hit. ......lol....of course i could be mistaken....and i know of about a dozen in my area that went from bad to worse because of "lack of knowledge"......lol....

.....i think mine is in just as good shape as it was when i got her 5 years ago....

edit: exception goes to Rickrx7....its hard to keep perfect....perfect....lol...

My first one, I got when I was 17 Didn't know **** about life (not that I do now) much less about cars. Cheap paint, cheap muffler tip, cheap 'lowering' kit, etc....all I could do for what I wanted on a college kids budget. And yes, finally drove it into the ground.

Back again for round two with a badass R1 that I built from stock and don't think many can touch.

Mine runs a little worse overall. When I bought it, pilot bearing was gone, diff bushes were gone, engine ran good though... changed fluids, cleaned injectors plugs etc etc... engine ran better... sort in the process of changing my diff bushes, still have the rattles from the pilot bearing but now my clutch is weird... exterior wise I would worse. Friends aunty reversed into my car, but that got fixed... theirs not a dent in the rear 1/4 panel and scratches on my passenger door... but I love my FD no matter what! Even if it will never be perfect!
