"Are you grinding your gears?!"
Well, recently, I vented my stock BOV to the atmosphere. When I drive around with my friends in my car, they keep asking me if I'm "grinding my gears." Now, the BOV venting sound sounds normal to me, but people keep asking that same question. Now, I was thinking, if I put a breather filter on the end of the BOV, would it change the sound?
Sure it would. The structure of the filter frame and foam density will definitely change the frequency "response" of it. But it will always have an air impact type sound, as is it's nature... unless you restrict the hell out of it, which I can't imagine would be good for it.
Try aiming the outlet hose toward something else.
Hey you could always cram a blow whistle or a flute in there

Anyways, would you think that a breather filter (like the K&N type) would hinder the flow of the air to the point where it would hurt the turbos over time?
Why are you so worried about what your friends think? If you like the sound of your BOV vented, then leave it like that. If you don't, route it back to the air box. Seems pretty simple to me....

Yeah, that is true, but the BOV supposedly vents some oil mist out which can accumulate over time -- I just wanted to kill two birds with one stone.
