My buddy's 2006 BMW M3 has this feature and it is very cool.

Based on brake pressure or g-force? One thing I've never seen the few LED tails (that people have retrofitted in to the 7) do is progressive turn signals.

I really don't know the answer to this. In any event, a well done LED taillight configuration would be great.

Is the idea to put these into a 99 spec look or the regular 93-95 look or both?

Guys, should I go flat, semi-gloss or gloss black? OEM ones seem kind of flat and Jscott used glossy black I'm confused, which one will get me closest to the oem look?

i usually go with a semi-gloss (depending on the brand). sometimes the matte looks too dull IMO.

I was actually thinking gloss black cause the plastic light covers are also glossy making circles not noticeable until i turn the lights on or hit the brakes or at least thats how it sounds in theory. Decisions decisions.......

something I just though of. dont the 99 spec taisl have a separate piece inside that fits over the lights to give it the circles? in other words. instead of painting you could make a stencil and attach it to the colored square shaped plastic?

I agree, i think 99 (or 96) spec look great.... but so do 93 lights.

The biggest turn off for me is reducing the light output and visibility angle. What are the consequences if an accident involves a car with purposely modified tail lights that are not dot approved and lower output than stock?

I'm not sure about your east coast car culture, but here in southern California the latest fad is to "smoke" the taillights, leaving them looking black or dark grey when not turned on. I almost rear ended a Civic a few months ago because I had no idea he was breaking until I noticed I was rapidly approaching his rear bumper. I have yet to hear of a case where someone's modified taillights were held against them. Its even legal to do as long as there is a rear facing reflector that is left untinted. I've also seen a few cars with tinted headlights as well.

also, i have not had ONE set of lights leak/fog. i've also "fixed" a few sets that were done by other people.

i also got the exact measurements for placements of the circles, so they are as close to 99spec as possible (a lot of people get the size right, but the placement wrong.)

search for more info from happy customers or drop me a PM if you're interested.
Hey Tom,

I have received back and installed the tail lights.

They look awesome!!!!!!

I recommend it to anyone. I have taken pictures but they are of bad quality (if anyone still wants them shoot me a pm).

Nice work and thanks.
