Yes, another fuel smell thread!

I'm not sure about it. I can feel a strong fuel smell when I ride my car at full throttle, when turbos are pushing high. But I think this smell is not from the engine bay... In fact I can only smell it with the window open, maybe coming from under the car. But I'm sure that it can not be smelt with the windows closed. I've tried but no smell at all, so I think it's not a fpd issue... Maybe fuel lines??

I've tried to smell it with my car sitting, but I can smell nothing...

The brake booster hose has a check valve in it. If the hose has been replaced with a regular hose, you will get the fuel smell at wot. You need the oem hose with the built in check valve that does not allow a backflow of pressure which is high in fuel vapor when boosting. Do you also get a whooshing noise. If so, then this would also be a symptom of the lack of the check valved hose.

The main cause of fuel leaks and fires is the fuel pulsation dampner. If yours has never been changed, you are rideing in the danger zone!

Mmmm. But if the problem is the FPD, I should smell it inside my car, even with the windows closed, shouldn't I?

Why should you? You should only smell it inside if the firewall were not sealed and/or the rear hood seal were missing and the smell could come in thru the vents.

If you have a fuel leak from the damper or the injectors, it will usually pool up under the UIM near the primary injector rail location. If the housings are painted, it will damage the paint. If the housings are not painted, it will usually taint the metal. You can usually get a quick look in there for any of those symtoms just by removing the UIM.

However, if you are only getting the smell under boost, I would check a few other things first. As mentioned, I would check the Brake Booster check valve. I would also check the aluminum check valve for the purge control system (it fails quite regularly). You really need something like a MityVac to the valves as simply trying to blow through them doesn't 'completely' test them.
