YES another broken STUD! ahhh

ok well these damn studs keep breaking on me! ANYWAYS what kind of DRILL BITS do you have because nothing i have tried has been able to successfully drill into the bolt! Lets assume i have tried pb blaster, heat, and who knows what. WHATS THE MIRACLE WAY or drill bit? :-/

-the flat ones a stud and the one sticking up is a bolt. (vise clamps will not work they are too stuck)

you need:

1. penetrating oil
2. metal drill bit, craftsman works, i like to use expensive bits
3. drill that you can regulate speed. you want to go somewhere around 2000rpm, not too fast, not too slow.

pay attention when drill bit is getting hot. cool it down with oil right away. keep spraying on the stud to cool it down too. if you heat up drill bit too much, you make it dull. to extract the stud use ez out or you can grind it out with thin, cone shaped carbide bit, same people use for porting.

worst case scenario. buy another manifold.

You need to pitch that manifold. You can get another for about $30.

the one sticking out you can get with vise-grips and do what petex says and make sure you hit it with a centpunch first to give the bit somewhere togo.

Well if you have a manifold for 30 bucks i will take it off you hands. I just didn't want to dump any large amount into my stock twins because i wasnt planing to keep them for too much longer.

I don't have one right now, but I see them on the classifieds regularly.

New from Mazda is a joke - close to a grand I'll bet at full retail.

I think dgeesaman had a good point from the beginning....Because in doing this i broke many rotary bits, dulled my drill bits, prolly burnt out my drill, and wasteted a bunch of TIME! (cant get that back ) . So for everyone that has to DRILL out multiple bolts i would BUY another one.
