Xcessive oil fill neck, stock fitment

My stock oil fill neck broke today. I am looking at getting the Xcessive fill neck. I have the stock intake manifolds and strut tower brace.

Will this work? I thought I heard or saw somewhere that it will not clear the strut tower brace.

You should take a look at the Race Only neck. Best design I've seen for the FD from an oil management perspective.

Its $600. The most overpriced part without Mazdaspeed printed on it.

No doubt it's expensive. But remember to convert to USD, more like $400. Also less of a need for catch can depending on how hard you drive the car.

The cast quality from xcessive is poor but i have it on my car and it works well. Cant beat the price either. The angle is different because it’s designed around their intake manifold. I think it clears with the stock LIM

These pics may help you get an idea of where it is. Note, these pics are with an Excessive LIM but you can see the position difference.

Hope this helps. I have one with stock LIM and it clears the Improved Racing strut bar.

Alright He-Man, stop putting your oil cap on after flexing at the gym

Really I'd just get a good used stock one and be done with it. The aftermarket ones are only worth it if you are doing serious track time.

Also the stock one is lighter

Really the stock part does just fine, I have not heard of many cases of them breaking.

I broke the barb off for my catch can removing it to service the solenoid rack. I was using Earls vapor lock fuel lines for the catch can. I think with heat and, with their design of providing a tight seal, they were too much for the 28 year old barb. A friend of mine has a stock plastic unit for sale. I am going to just go with that. I'll save up for the ReacTiv neck if I run into more problems down the road. I did a little test fitting with a couple strut tower braces I have laying around and it looks like the Xcessive neck would have gotten in the way, especially if I went with a crazy oil cap, such as the Racing Beat cap.

Why not just fix it? JB Weld and a brass fitting with some brain analysis and it is done very cheaply.
You too can be an engineer!

The stock one is so light, wish someone made a lightweight option I kinda hated adding the extra weight of the aftermarket options

Solution

Thanks again to Chuck for the idea. This seems to be the best of all worlds. -Stephen

stainless steel look nice, but for the actual application it makes no sense compared to a lighter weight aluminum version.

to wit …

https://franklinperformance.nz/produ...il-filler-caps

which you can even buy center iron flange replacements that are AN or threaded connections to use hose rather than tubing. Pretty much can make it any way you want it.

People tend to use those aftermarket fill necks because the xcessive LIM shifts the manifolds forward and prevents easy use of the stock neck.

It's still pricey. I'd plump for it if it actually prevented catch can filling, but with -6 lines it goes against everything I know about preventing it. I'd need some sort of money back guarantee.

If the "expansion chamber" is so effective, why isn't it effective on the stock neck?
