WTF Sunroof

Has anyone else had issue with sunroof not closing?

I tried to close my sunroof today and it wouldn't close.... it was partially open so I opened it a little more and then tried to close and nothing...

It allows me to open but nothing happened when I tried to close it.... no motor sounds nothing.

Is there anyway that I can close it manually until I can find someone to fix it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

haha welcome to my world. i had that same exact problem so i took appart the sunroof button things and found out my button was broken. just take it apart, it comes right out just give it a nice tug. and then it takes a few seconds to just take everything apart and maybe you will find out that it is broken on the inside.

Thanks for the empathy.

I have the mechanical savvy of a 2 yr old on crack.....

I was wondering if they're is a tool to manually close sunroof. I did a search on the forum and one member indicated that he "had a tool in the glove compartment to manually close...." I've since pm'd him.

Just behind the sunroof opening in the headliner of the car is a plastic screw cover. Turn in and remove the cover. Underneath that is a hex key screw that you can use to manually open and close the sunroof.

Yeah, it's probably just the black sunroof button that's broke. Take off the map light assembly, remove the button and you can just use your finger to push the switch to open and close the sunroof.

Thanks for the insights... I'll try to get a hex key from the hardware store... you don't happen to know the size do you??

I saw what you meant.

Regarding pulling off the map light assembly, I tried pulling on it gently and it won't come off... I don't see any bolts etc. so i'm assuming it just snaps off?

Last thing I want to do is "snap" it off and break it...

Thanks again for your help.

I just checked my car( Been a while since I had to take it off ), the map light just pops off, no bolts or screws. You might take a flathead screwdriver tape the end of it with some masking tape(to prevent ripping or breaking anything by the maplight) and use that to pry it out. As for the hex key, a 3mm fit in there fine, but you might as well just buy a small set. It'll only be a few bucks.
