Exclamation WTF?! Look what I found in my intercooler!!! [pics]

This was taken with a cell phone, so the quality isn't that great, but look what I found! I am in the process of replacing my alternator, so I had to take off the hose that connects to the top endtank of my stock intercooler. I never saw what the inside of an intercooler looked like, so I decided to take a peek. As I was inspecting the inside of the intercooler, I saw something that looked a bit odd, odd indeed. It (the little rivet on the left) was resting on top of the actual core of the intercooler, in the corner between the plastic end tank and the core. Holy crap... this could have done some damage!!!

(Just so you guys know, the penny is just there to show how big that rivet is.)

"lol" I thought you found the penny. I suppose it's possible that it could have been sucked through and jammed a rotor. This time curiosity saved the cat.

I honestly don't know *how* that could have gotten in there. I always plug up all the intake tubing with paper towels when I work on the car. I don't know of any rivets like that which are on our cars; and there is no way in hell that could have passed through the intercooler duct, through the air filter, past the turbines, and past the intercooler maze of a core.

I am really glad my stoner friends came over to my garage. Otherwise, I would have not been bored enough to look into the intercooler to see what's going on inside.

I once found a 10mm socket in the top of my intercooler when I disconnected the pipes to go non-sequential.

I doubt it was mine, as I plug up my pipes when I work on them. The thing is, I don't know how this wasn't sucked up into the motor before. Maybe the fact that it was lodged into the endtank a little kept it there. Thank you Jesus... Alverado.

I was really excited when I saw the penny. I was hoping maybe I could look in mine and find a million dollars and a brand new PFC w/ commander

Or held one of the throttle butterflies open. Wheee, that would be scary.
