It is needed when you get high rpm misfires

marco (www.magnusmotorsports.com) reccomended to use one on my car when i told him about my ignition problems.

I never had the chance to put it in though, and i fixed my problems by leaning out the car.

I like the "custom" Aluminum cover. Looks like a 2 year old cut it out and didnt bother to clean up the edges.

Wow, I have never heard of people using the FC coil as an “upgrade” to the FD coil. But if it works and others use it for an upgrade, maybe the builder knew what he was doing. Either way I still have high-end break up. It happens at my boost settings above .8 and will happen at the higher RPMs. If I have just done a hard start through 1st and 2nd, I can usually boost all the way to red line. It’s once I get good load on the car and high boost do I feel the miss. And it’s a big miss at that. When this happens the car is still running rich and I see lots of smoke (gas) come out the tail. Every now and then it does pull good all the way up through 3rd, but as soon as I hit 4th at full boost, it falls on its face.

So I will try leaving it in. I should splice the HKS TP inline with the FC coil? Or how would you guys hook up the HKS twin Power in this case?

Yeah mine runs rich as hell. I dip into 9.8:1 sometimes under full boost. I normally see 11.3:1 at cruse and light throttle. 10.5:1 under .8 of a bar of boost. I want to make sure my ignition is in tip top shape before I try leaning out the car.

Keep in mind that a rich mixture requires a very strong spark to ignite well. I would tune it for around 11.5:1 at 10 psi and 11:1 at 15 psi and see how the car runs.

I've found that when you get near 10:1, you get a lot of breakup/loss of power/poor running.

11.3 at cruise is doing nothing but wasting gas. I'd go for 13:1 for cruise if you don't care about fuel economy.... 14.5 under cruise if you want to get decent mileage. On my car, I've found that it has a little better throttle response with a 13:1 cruise compared to a 15:1 cruise.

Your car may differ, so do what you like...

Yea, the T2 leading is better than a FD leading. People have made well over 600rwhp with a stock T2 leading and a single MSD6a.

That's why I want the HKS TP in. I have heard great things about it. I also know I have other issues, like my O2 feedback control is not working any more (on the PFC). I used to be able to watch my ratios lean out to about 14.0:1 when at cruse, but now they stay at a solid 11.0:1. I agree on the gas part.
