Would you buy used toe links?

I just finished doing my rear brakes (kinda). I checked out the state of my rear suspension's bushings while I was over there and I really want to replace some of them. I'll probably start with the toe links as they looked like the worst offenders - 120k on the car and they look original.

Now and then I see people selling used aftermarket toe-links and I wonder if it is worth it to buy these used?

I'd like to save some $$ if I can, but do these things hold up well?

I've seen some old threads about them wearing out in 10k miles and it just makes me wonder if people aren't just trying to get rid of their used up crap toe links? If I get new, I'll probably go with Rotary Extreme's.

Thanks for the input.

Absolutely.

Search for a post by DamonB in the archive section. The heim joints are completely replaceable.

Being that aftermarket toe-lionks have spherical bushings, you might have to replace the bushing itself. Since the damn things are solid, with time, dirt and **** get inside the bushing themselves and eventually wear themselves out.

duboisr - i don't have a press, do thats a no go. my mechanical skills end at bolting and unbolting stuff

flybye - that is exactly what i was concerned about. I haven't looked at the thread that Clayne suggested so I don't have pricing for the replacement parts. I would think that whatever price you buy toe-links used should be discounted for the amount of the replacement parts, shipping plus a little extra for your own labor and risk. So unless you get them for say $100 maybe $125, its probably not worth it. I think rotary extremes toe links go for ~$200 new...

I would buy used toe links if they are cheap enough. They're a wear item; if you can get them for cheap enough that you won't be upset to find them worn out then everything is fine.

You can replace all the rod ends on an aftermarket set and go one step further by adding dust seals for just over $100.
