would this lower my car's performance?

right now i have a HKS 3" Mild Steel Midpipe and the Dual N1s... theres a cop around here who loves to pull loud people over... if i get a pettit resonated midpipe and the racing beat exhaust, would that restrict the airflow at all?

Not enough that you'll notice or miss anything.

You might gain some low end/mid range power and lose a little on the top end but it won't be that much.

A resonated mid pipe isn't going to change much, noise wise or performance wise. It will still be loud...... and fast.

Greddy sp

I know for a fact that the Greddy SP is a really quiet muffler and coupled with a magnaflow (or like) muffler in place of a cat then it is even more quiet. Get a custom midpipe done with a magnaflow muffler in the middle this will reduce noise level without sacrificing much power, I belive someone on here has it and makes 400+ hp.

Does the cop have a dosiometer to measure the decibel reading? What is the accepted measure and what is the threshold limit? I am sure there is a noise ordinance and there has to be set limits for those ordinances. Just like a speed limit sign, he cannot just watch you pass him and say you were going 45 in a 35 zone without having some type of non-subjective proof like vascar or radar.

I would fight this one in court (unless you are too loud). The burden of proof would be on him. It is like aftermarket parts and factory warranties. They have to prove it before they can deny a claim.

You could have your car tested at idle and determine whether this was acceptable or not. Meters are somewhat expensive compared to the fines, but definitely worth putting the pissy cop in his place.

Trout2 may pipe in to correct me, but I believe he has a straight through exhaust (resonated MP) with the RB dual tip. I've driven next to him twice now on different occasions, and it's as quiet as my car with the stock main cat and stock cat back. I have yet to hear him get on it, and I'm sure it's as loud as a banshee then, but you would not know it was modified when he's driving it normally.

I agree, I've asked cops that myself and the look on their faces is priceless!
Always stand up for yourself and take it to court. You shouldn't have to put up with bull$hit like this.
