Would I still get white smoke with pure water--O-ring
Just wondering if I should still be getting white smoke with just having water in the system. I'm doing the block-weld, and in the middle stages with just water in the system it still smokes at idle or throttle depressed, it really smells more like oil, and fuel. But the problem is it's difficult to say what color it is, can't really tell if the smoke is white or blueish grey. But I imagine with just water in the system it shouldn't be blowing smoke out at all, if it's a o-ring problem or could it?
White "smoke" from coolant (or pure water) is really steam, which dissipates almost as soon as it hits the air. Real (blue, grey, or black) smoke is particulate matter like soot, and doesn't disappear so easily.

Thanks for the tips, that does help. Kind of gives me a better idea now. The smoke in question that I'm getting just stays around in the air it doesn't really dissappear at all. And I noticed the exhaust leaves a lot of soot when the inlet of the muffler is cleaned out. Damn I'm so confused now?? I really can't tell if it's just because its running rich..
