First off, I know there are a ton of these threads. If it were as simple as running a search and reading a few threads, I would do so. There isn't any info to my specific application and situation, thus I am starting a new thread.

I have a Racing Beat cat-back exhaust sitting in my garage and I'd like to install it. I've been waiting to install this, because I had planned on porting the wastegate, but lately I've been asking myself it if is really necessary. Especially because it is very hard to find the time to get it done with a busy schedule. As the car sits right now, the engine performance mods are:

A'pexi intake filters
GReddy SMIC
HKS 3" downpipe
Bonez Hi-flow cat
A'pexi Super AVC R boost controller
Stock fuel
Stock ECU

With the boost controller off, boost is held at 7-8psi with the stock wastegate. The boost controller has no problem keeping boost at 10psi with my current mods.

So would the stock unmodified wastegate, would it have a problem with boost creeping with the addition of the catback? I don't plan on more performance mods for now, so if I could keep it rock solid at 10psi with just these mods, then I'd like to keep things how they are.

You should be fine running the hi-flow cat instead of a midpipe,combined with the not-so-cold nights in Southern Cali...
